My mom is into gaming, she likes sandbox games and sims, which is cool. When I was younger she thought I would 'outgrow' but she knows better now, and last time when I was talking to a friend about a game, she actually gave me a compliment for being able to remember the lead dev's name, engine and history of the publisher, which was a weird experience.

Also I think she is the only one that consistently watches my Let's Plays...

I think they see games as a childs toy. It bothers me some time, but I have learned to live with it. A couple of years ago my dad borrowed my old Xbox so he could play some games, so it seems that he wants to play games, but to be honest... he sucked really badly. Anyone remember the video with the dad who failed at Portal? This was twice as bad... almost. I don't think my mother ever played a video game before, other than some Wii games. My brother plays some games, but he just buys some games and never finish them. He bought Red Dead Redemption, GTA IV and LA Noire a while back, and he havent finished any of them yet. Good for me, then I dont have to pay for them.
It's annoying that the only time I can play co-op or any other type of local multiplayer is when I have friends over. Also, I dont have anyone to play Mortal Kombat with since my brother doesnt like that game after a kicked his ass three games in a row and he only hit me once. Maybe I should have gone easier on him. Oh well, play to win right?

My Grandma hated the fact that I played video games. And I started to play them at a young age as well, all thanks to my cousins and what not. Well when I would get caught playing a video game it would result in me getting yelled at in front of my family/friends and me grounded. Yeah, I was grounded a lot as a child. It might be why I'm such a hermit now. I was never allowed to go outside or go over my friends house.

my parents see that i enjoy it and do support me in trying to get a job in the industry. they can be sometimes (mostly my dad) interrested in what is happening in the industry, but never really about gameplay, more about economical and socail aspects of it. but they both agree that there are higher priorities in live and i fully agree on that. so yep, pretty nice.

My mom is kind of indifferent of them but she often asks why they always have to involve shooting people. This is more of joke though than serious.

After several CoD-multiplayer related freakouts my dad has tried to move me away from "shoot-'em-up" games though he doesn't want me to stop playing all together, he just encourages me to try different genres.

My mom plays the casual games and guitar hero. She asked my brother to buy her a PS2 and spends the time after work playing in her room.

My parents are cool with it. I only live with my Mum, and she thinks its fine as long as i'm not on there 24/7. My Dad's fine with it as well, as when I was younger he used to play my N64 a lot.

They kind of treat it as a disease, an existing condition, like being paraplegic. They hate it but realize there's absolutely nothing they can do to eliminate it.

My dad really hates it. Then again he had to work his ass off his whole life, so I get why he hates anything he doesn't see paying off. I think he looks the other way most of the time because my grades are decent.

My Mom doesn't HATE it, but treats it more like anyother hobby. She just gets mad that everything cost so much. Waited almost two years for my 360. I protect it under threat of death.

My dad's intersted in them and loves the look of Assassin's Creed but doesn't really get into them because he doesn't have the time. My mom has the usual "kids toys" approach.

My dad thinks they're silly and weird (then again, he doesn't have much imagination, I find. He also scoffs at the words "Suspension of disbelief"). But he does think that some are cool, mostly ones that look realistic. Like...his main comment after seeing "the Dark Knight" on my PS3 (blu ray), his main comment was "Oh wow....the picture was amazing". That's pretty much it... >_>

My Mom thinks they are a total waste of time, outside of brain age, Professor layton and DDR. But she understands that Gaming is what makes my world go round, and she doesn't bother me about it anymore. I mean, I'm 23. She understands that she can't really tell me what to do anymore. That, and the above games have softened her stance on gaming considerably.

My younger brother? He thinks they're kinda cool, but he really isn't into them. He's more into drawing. And my GOSH can he draw. He has played a few games with me before, but hasn't ever really gotten into them. And I don't blame him. To be a good gamer, you need good instincts, and good technique, and he lacks both. And the patience to acquire either.

My mom plays a few simple puzzle games; I don't think my dad ever really got into playing any games. My grandma actually plays the Wii so I think she's more into games than my mom and dad ever were. The only game we could really play together as a family was Wii Sports bowling, which when you've played so many more complicated games gets boring after a while. Other than that my parents usually believe it's a waste of time but aren't really anti-games.

They don't really care, they just view it as something I like that they don't. My dad and I used to play racing games together sometimes but he won't play anything with me anymore because he says he isn't any good at it. My mom played a little of Phoenix Wright and enjoyed it, but she never finished it.

I have a rare allergic condition with my eyes that puts me in almost constant pain. Gaming helps me forget about the pain by being immersed in other worlds.
I think my parents get annoyed at how much me and my brothers play games, however my brothers would see it as unfair that I could play more than them if they were told to stop
Not to mention that XBOX Live is pretty much the only social life I have. (Yes with RL friends)

I think they accept that I view them differently since I've grown up with them... but they still have the viewpoint of, "I wonder when he'll grow up and leave the videogames behind and become an adult."

Luckily they don't pester me about it. Much.

My parents never seemed to mind, I introduced the step-dad to PC gaming with counter-strike: Source, but he fell into C.O.D.

Considering my mum bought the SNES for herself right before I was born...
She's no longer a 'gamer' as such; but she sees the value in it :)
