What reverse universe do you live in...

My parents don't care as long as my studies go well, otherwise the not caring part starts to decline

My parents?

God they hate that I play games. Every time I talk to them about how Fox or CBC are doing terrible journalism against video games they defend CBC or Fox. After they realized I play video games quite a bit they just stoped buying games for me. Because I'm under 18 I get my brother to buy me M games (nice guy).

They always try to convince me to play football or more hockey or maybe even some hockey lessons I don't think my parents have come to grips yet that i really enjoy playing video games and that my being more sportive is gonna make me hate video games all of a sudden.
Man, that sucks. It's been relatively positive / don't care so far but your parents siding with Fox over you is harsh.

"You playing that shit again? I want to watch TV in the other room."

My VCR distorts the picture quality in her computer room. That's all I ever really hear from her about it.
My dad fakes interest or something, or ask questions like, "oh, so that guy is out to get you? You're suppose to kill them?" Nothing else about the game, he's just interested in what's after me and who I'm killing. It was awkward trying to explain Twilight Princess to him because it's not main focus of the game.

My dad might occasionally bring it up if we're arguing about how I'm supposedly wasting my life - for the record, I'm not, although I may have been for a while - but they were the ones who bought me my first console and also the current one... so they can't really cast stones. But yeah, for the most part they just don't care. They're certainly not interested in joining in, not that either of them could hold a controller due to various disabilities, but they don't ***** about it... it's just 'my thing' that they don't interfere in.

That said, they did enjoy Brain Training on the DS when I had it.

(Should probably point out that I'm 25 years old and not living with them, so it's not really much of their business either way.)

When I was younger my rules were pretty much the same, but weekends were free game as far as time was concerned.

Now my parents actually show interest, and even play/watch some of the games I have. They're great as far as 'keeping open minded' goes, and yet somehow they still manage to keep the respect they've held as authority figures too.

I respect my parents a great deal, they're awesome people and have helped me so much, lucky to have them.

Now excuse me, Full Metal Alchemist is on and my mum and I are watchin it. ;p

When I was 4 or 5 she cared what games I played. But now or days I don't even think she knows what system I have.

Well what I have heard from my parents many stupid speaches on how I need to be more of an adult and make my own business and be successful, and video games are stupid and pointless and should not be played by us teens and children and only lowlife that have no reason to be alive

But I love my xbox and only play when I have no current plans for that week and I have fun talking to people that relate to me over the internet

My mother blames every bad thing I do on those vidya games (B+ in Math? It's those dirty video games isn't it!) and my father likes them. Even to this day he still sneaks some gaming time when my mother's out to (and I quote) "Get his Mass Effect On."

My dads view of games is stuck in the arcades and belives all games are as simplesticic as that. My mom doesn't mind me playing them only when I play for a longer time than maybe an half hour. She'll hope on the violent games bandwagon every so often but never too bad. Now as long as grades are good they don't care.

My Nan bought GTAIV for me way back, it was hilarious because the shop assistant guy was telling her all about the violence and nudity and stuff. Haven't seen so much of here since come to think of it...

My Dad tells me so often that I am "addicted to that DAMN thing" (my xbox), that I can practically prompt the speech he gives me. He insists that I'm wasting my life on those DAMN games, or that DAMN machine (really, he emphasises the "damn" THAT much). And really, he gives me the same speech every time. You'd think he'd have learned by now that I don't really listen to what he has to say.

Mum doesn't mind that much; so long as I've done some housework for her shes okay with it.

My dad hates it. He just sees it as a massive waste of time. Drinking while watching TV is far more productive.

I really don't think my parents are that bothered.
The only memory I have of my parents
taking any intrest in games is when
I was playing GTA SA late at night
on full volume and my mother running in screaming
because she thought the police had broke the door down!

My mom doesn't mind. She thinks its better than me going out and doing something stupid. Anyways she thinks that they've helped me because they made me realize that I want to be a A.I Programmer for video games. Also I like how you mentioned Shenmue. Not many people like that game but I do!
