Like many others have said, if I didn't already have all but one of the games in that pack that I'm interested in I'd have bought it.

It is a killer deal though. But this is steam we're talking about. That's just what they do.

It's a fantastic deal, in my opinion. If I didn't have most of the included games I'd have bought it right away.

It's a good deal, though the only games worth getting were Amnesia, Super Meat Boy and Audiosurf. In my opinion.

It's a nice deal, on par with the usual Steam sales. I would have bought it if I didn't already have 11 out of the 13.

Anyway, the whole potato thing seems to be a big advertisement for Portal 2. Apparently all the games in the pack had updates that included potatoes and hints, similar to the transmissions in Portal that were added when Portal 2 was announced.

There's a thread in the Steam forums where people are going mad over it.

well, now it's clear: you can help release portal 2 early by playing the games in the sack, you get 2 items for tf2, a skin for portal 2 multiplayer, and you will be declared awesome. i'm telling you, every 15 minutes in tf2, someone tries to buy those two items from me. idiots

1... 2... 3... KICK IT! -Yes, but not playable currently if I will be honest with it.
AaAaAA!!! - A Reckless Disregard for Gravity - 100x yes great game.. which is why I already own it
Amnesia: The Dark Descent - cool artsy game, not my thing, maybe yours.
AudioSurf - I wanted to like it, but I don't. Decent, but again, I own it because it looked good when it came out
BIT.TRIP BEAT - Worth getting
Cogs - I'll just play bioshock 1's hacking minigame
Defense Grid: The Awakening - RTS - again, not my thing
Killing Floor - Got it, it's shit
RUSH - Decent and cheap. nice visuals, nice concept. It's like pokemon's obligatory team rocket skid-pad levels
Super Meat Boy - GOTY 2010, better than minecraft and RDR. buy this with or without the potato pack.
The Ball - this just looked.. awful
The Wonderful End of the World - Finished it, it sucks the big one, crappy katamari clone. Dejobaan sucked at this point
Toki Tori - wtf is this?

As much as people like to say it's a 100 dollar value, to me that's less of a value than what they're giving me, since I have to take so much shit with it, and I own many of them.

Plus most of these are only bought in sales, putting their "true" value below regular retail.

Super meat boy is great stupid fun.
Defense grid is a pretty good and well polished tower defense game.
Amnesia is mostly great atmosphere surrounding a simple adventure game. Still good.
The ball is a first person puzzle game with a new idea, but it's no portal. It's alright.

Those are the games to pick.

Feel slightly frustrated that the 75% (odd) that I already purchased at full price (or small discount due to early/pre order) are now massively discounted :(

I had everything but 3 of the games already, so I bought the last three by themselves.

Aside from the TF2 Potato hat + extra Portal pin (why the hell did they give out two of the things?), it really isn't that great a package of games.
Want a breakdown? Here are my thoughts in a couple lines per game:

* Aaaaaa is fun though a bit strange, however it doesn't really hold my attention for long.

* KickIt is just Aaaa played to your own music. It has an annoying addition in that now you have to rotate yourself to get points from scoring plates.

* Amnesia is decent and scary, but the graphics won't impress you.

* AudioSurf is worth having, but odds are you already do from one of its many sales.

* BIT.TRIP BEAT (aka, Pong on drugs) is ok, though it will likely annoy you. I feel no need to play it again after getting my potatoes.

* Cogs is like a Rubik's Cube with a stopwatch that also counts your moves. It's ok for some of the easier puzzles, but quickly they become so annoying that you just give up trying to get "Gold" times or give up on the game completely.

* Defense Grid: It's been ages since I've played it, but its a fun game and worth getting.

* Killing Floor is one of my favorite games, so much so that I even run a server for it for my clan. It's definitely one of the better games in the pack.

* Rush is interesting, if you've ever played Star Wars: Pit Droids, Rush is exactly that, except with cubes.

* Super Meat Boy is strangely fun after you get used to dieing 50000 times per level.

* The Ball I've only spent a few minutes in, but it's something like Portal, made harder, and plus a giant ball. (a First-person puzzle game).

* The Wonderful End of the World is... strange. Not much more I can say about it. You run around absorbing things (kind of like The Maw) and grow in size. Your goal: to absorb everything in the level before the timer runs out.

* Toki Tori is alright if you aren't bothered by the 'child-friendly' art style.

Overall from the whole pack I'd say Killing Floor, The Ball, and Super Meat Boy are the best. The rest are good too, but it really depends your own personal preferences. (And how much you like indie puzzle games).

Buy a TF2 Potato Hat for $37 and get 13 games for free! What a savings!

In all seriousness, what are the Escapists' thoughts on this? I picked it up yesterday (and sent my extra copy of Meat Boy and Reckless Disreguard For Gravity to my friend). It looks like a great value, TF2 hat or no.

One of the most interesting theories I heard was that there would either be:
A. a HUGE TF2 update on the 5th. It coencides with the day the JP Relief Items are being taken down, leaving more space in the Mann Co Store.
or
B. It's all a Portal tie-in. People were wondering what potatos had to do with April Fools, and one person drew this conclusion: POrTAl TwO. All caps letters spell out POTATO. Yeah, it's reaching a bit, but still...

Can't wait for my games to finish installing, can't wait for my Potato Hat. If there's one thing Steam knows how to do, it's how to present a deal so sweet that they grab me by the proverbial balls and refuse to let go until I shell out some cash.
How do I send extra copies to friends? I already had Killing Floor, but if I can send the extra copy I paid for to a friend, that'd be wonderful!

In the Steam menus (top left -> File, etc) do Games -> Manage Gifts and Guest Passes.

Welcome to anything you buy on Steam, ever. It will all eventually be 50% to 75% off in one of their sales. So it might be wise to consider whether you really feel you NEED a game at that very moment when buying new.

Speaking of which...just bought Borderlands GOTY for $7.50 three days ago or so. Fuck. Yes.
Of course I could do this, there would be no drawbacks

I thought it was cool. I already had half of the games on it but there was enough stuff there that I was curious about to feel comfortable buying it for those things. Didn't care about the TF2 stuff though, I don't even really play TF2 anymore.
