I like gamerscore, although i use it as a challenge (so i like ahievements), i dont really care about how many numbers are next to my name.

I have around 19000 at the moment.

Feck all i have been gaming for a good 10 years at different paces more casual now but I dont need some score to reassure me my e-dick is bigger than some other guys. Same reason I no longer play mmorpgs its a glorified pissing contest of time investment trophies/acheivments w/e give me nothing but a way to kill time so ill pass.

Doesn't mean that much. It's nice to have a full achievement chart and 1000 points on my profile though...however that has never happened for me...unless you count Dash of Destruction.

I find myself going for achievements until I realize that I'm not actually enjoying the game anymore. Prime example being COD4, breaking my controller in anger after dying for the bazillionth time trying to complete 'no fighting in the war room' on veteran. Stupid Infinity Ward!
Lol I know how you feel, but I found Gears of War 2 on insane harder than cod 4 veteran.
What about cod 5? that was harder then 4 and i thought gears was quite easy actually
lol.
I haven't yet had the fortune of trying cod 5 on veteran if that's what it is still called. But I have done it on the level below that which was quite hard but I was able to push through and win. Gears 2 on insane was the hardest thing I've ever done, the hard bit is killing the bigger guys like on one level you get maulers and blood mounts together that was shear agony for me to get through.

Nothing. Unless Microsoft comes to let us use our Gamerpoints to purchase stuff over Live, I don't care about it. It's nothing but a useless number.

Achievements are fun and can give you something to do once you have "finished" a game.

But those who judge on who has a "higher score" or not... The more games you buy and play the higher your score is most likely to get. At the current moment untill you can use the points for something its just a marketing ploy to get users to buy more games so they can get "higher scores" and feel better about themselfs becuase they are "better" than someone with a lower score.

just put it this way. i only have 2 GFWL games. Most of the achievements in those games though. My gamer score and "star rating" is low becuase i only have 2 games to add points with. So it isnt really a judge on my ability or time spent grinding as a gamer.
TO get a higher score i will have to buy more games to have access to more points.... see how it works? More money spent= more Gamer points

my friends and i keep trading games between us so we have a decent selection on the go at any time, my achievements help me keep track of what i've done in each game rather than loading in and out to check where i am. with 4 profiles and about 30 games between us its soooo much easier having an out of game list of 'stuff you've done'.

also achievements give an element of replay value, which is immensely important when you're unemployed and cant afford new games (like i was for two years). unemployment is probably my reason for getting as much out of each game as i could in that time, which is probably why my gamerscore is 35000+. hurray for unemployment! (sarcasm)
