What does your mental landscape look like?

Have you seen Inception?

Well, it's nothing like that. I just love that film.

It's more like... hmm. If it's just a vast collection of my various traits and qualities etc., then it would be something like a MUSE gig where everyone is gaming whilst listening, and drinking coke. And then a giant pen and paper just sort of flies around the sky. Also: muffins.

If it's an actual, physical landscape that represents me, I guess it would be a tiny, private beach on the Mediterranean sea, with a little path winding up a grassy, verdant hill to an orchard in full bloom, which sits in the shadow of a small thatched-roof cottage.

Well I'm not sure about my mental landscape. But here's the landscape of my brain:

An empty grey world with jagged hills/mountains and decaying ruins of a once mighty civilization...

The map opens up to a vast land, only somewhat organized. There are some forests and many rivers. It is not a mountainous country, though. There is one urban area to the northwest that seems rather dense. Two smaller areas, one in the center and one far to the east, also exist. Each city seems to have its own character. The main one to the west seems to show signs that it was once vibrant, the center of a mighty empire that has since crumbled, but the city itself still remains and is somewhat strong. The central city almost seems like a ghost town. There is just about nothing there anymore. The far eastern city has an entirely different character and culture than the other two, but where the western city has fallen in quality, this eastern one seems to be growing. It appears to be a house that could be made of cards, however, that a strong wind could topple. Remains of the western city's empire can be seen throughout the land, in the woods and villages scattered throughout the forests and plains, mostly on riversides. Churches and monuments to heroes are the main remnants. It seems, as you watch, that attendance at those churches was once strong, had a waning period, but is starting to pick up again, even in the eastern city. Monuments and statues are built and crumble rapidly. You notice one more thing about this "living" map. The world never sleeps. Everything is going 24/7 without stop. It is a peculiar world, filled with people of many races and colors. Waves of immigrants into the world seem to come at rather random times, but there have been only a few who have been able to take true power in this world, and they have held such power for a long time and have each left their mark on the world.

Just my day to day environments, wherever I go I seem to remember the details, and that's what I generally think like.

Old crumbling marble ruins on a large grassy plateau, surrounded by water. The sun out with a nice breeze blowing past, and the sound of waves riding into the walls of the plateau.

*shrugs* not thought about it really...But I suppose it would be a plethora of my hobbies and interests....

things within things within things.

For example: music within videogames, videogames within books, books within films, films within friends, friends within a good time...

I can imagine it to be a really untidy desk and the person who goes into my mind is really small and has to navigate their way across the desk, into the different forms of media...ever deeper in some sort of Inception-style way until eventually they reach my innner most fears, desires etc...

OH and by the way...you can't personify something into a landscape. Personification is the process of giving an abstract idea/inanimate object human qualities...

If I were to personify my mind it would probably look like me...but with white hair, and dressed like a ninja.

Because I can.

The way I always see my brain and thought process is like one of those comedy shows performed in front of a live audience, with me as the main character.
(E.g. Kenan and Kel, Fresh Prince of Bel Air)

Remember the Asylum in Psychonauts? Like that my landscape would be. Or any great landscape from American McGee's Alice.

Don't know. The only thing I ever get is a board room meeting, with different thoughts being voiced by different members (much like in that family guy scene involving the word "eclectic"). There is a large, oval wood table and the place kind of looks clean but shabby. The walls are a light brown.

EDIT: oh, I remembered! I used to have a giant landscape that looks like a cross between simcity and a circuit board. New thoughts and memories would be entered in the form of large microchips which descend into the board (standing tall like skyscrapers).

A catacomb of hallways, each hall serving a different category, and each room serving a different purpose. The details of these rooms seems to change depending on my train of thought.

If its any relevance, sometimes i spend chains of hours just thinking.
