my parents are pretty cool with it.
my dad doesn't mind using his credit card on the internet and they give me full accesses to the net.

My dad swings between saying we should all go back to messenger bírds and feather quill pens, and thinking that the internet is this magical place where you can do anything and access anything. My mom sends annoying chain mail to everyone she knows, keeps bugging me to teach her to use Facebook properly for the umpteenth time, and complains that things move 'too fast' and that she 'can't keep up'. But she's better at using it than dad, though not nearly as good as she thinks she is.

My Dad works in computers, and he uses the internet a lot. My mom has no clue and got scared when the start menu popped up, she doesn't really understand the URL bar at the top.

My Dad maintains an active steam account and plays a lot of multiplayer RTS games. Mum is doing a University course online for graphic arts. They also raise high hell every time i run out the monthly bandwidth. I think they are pro internet.

My parents are idiots on the internet, but they use it quite a lot. Especially my dad. He got his pc filled up by loads of spyware by clicking on sketchy ads more than once.

My dad loves the internet and uses it just like most of the users on here. He likes googling random facts, posting on forums, shopping online and finding the occasional meme. He thinks it's a really good resource/invention but he really thinks parents should teach their kids internet safety.

My mom is one of those facebook moms, living with us she knows the internet has so much more but she just isn't that interested in it. She just uses it for amazon, netflix, facebook.

They are not wrong.
My mom uses the internet for pretty much everything. She started using it when her bank started with online bank accounts. She pays her bills thorough the internet, has facebook, loves youtube and likes to read the news from there.
That's about it.

I taught my dad how to download stuff for free and have regretted it ever since, now he's on my computer adding new albums to his ipod every day, I go out for a cigarette for two minutes then come back to find my dad downloading every song he's ever heard.

Last time I saw them (like 7 years ago) they thought every man on the internet was a rapist and every women on the internet a male rapist disguised as a women.

my mum and dad both know how to use the internet (dad will need help occasionally, but that's only because he uses it only when he needs to look up something.) My mum and sis both know how to use it but they refuse to use Google Chrome instead of IE because that's the internet it came with......im disappoint.

Hahaha! Okay.. my dad doesn't seem to quite get it yet. He knows how to check his email (barely), and that you can download music somehow, usually with the aid of my brother or myself. It's a wily, mysterious form of black magic, and he's happy where he is; he has a hard enough time getting Winamp to do what he wants sometimes.

Mom, on the other hand, is quite pretty good with Facebook (and uses the shit out of Mafia Wars), still sends chain mails, and I'm pretty sure has discovered LOLcats. She also plays online Backgammon, which I think is the reason she went on the internet in the first place; any time she wants, and doesn't have to wait for a real person.

I think they're pretty typical, actually. My dad got a diploma in computer somethingorother when I was 7 or something, back when it was hip to buy a computer that you built yourself... he still thinks he knows everything. That was eighteen years ago. Daddy, to put it into perspective, the laptop I had that I gave up on two years ago is beyond obsolete.

My mom figured out a day ago that you can use the address bar to go to websites.

My dad still thinks that if you want to close the browser you have to press the back button over and over until you get to your homepage first.

Neither of them figured out tabs yet.

I'm pretty sure they think that firefox and IE take you to different Internets.

They think it's a series of tubes. They think of it as a very useful tool that has made many an aspect of their lives easier, only they probably wish we had a much faster connection as to not so frequently become frustrated with the technology.

Does they really? :)

OT: My parents are almost as internet-literate as me - It's a major part of their job in both cases.
