Seems to me like a strange question, Final Fantasy games aren't usually known for what engine they are on are they? I don't play many jRPGs so wouldn't know if they share the engine with any other big titles but I didn't think they did.
Also they aren't the most moddable games ever...
I was just curious since the game seems to run fine, but they had problems with a powerful engine they licensed for a ton of money, so i was just interessted if they're still using the same engine for that or simply don't care about the wasted money
The reasons why some companies have trouble with licensed engines over in house ones are because they have to take time to learn it and know how to properly use it. While the same goes for in house engines, it's a lot easier to use an engine you built yourself and are more familiar with than one that you simply borrowed. There is a reason why when companies make their own engine they stick with it, because they know it's strengths, weaknesses, limitations, and every little thing about it which proves more useful in the long run.
