As soon as we're allowed to use keyboards and mice on consoles, it's irrelevant.
Still waiting for any of the leading consoles to do this.
Then consoles would inch ever closer to the PC and the PC gaming master race would have a shit fit.

I love my gaming PC, but god do I enjoy watching PC fanboys whine.
Thinking over it, I should say, as soon as we're allowed to use keyboards and mice in console games. IIRC doesn't the PS3 let you hook a keyboard up?
I'm not sure, but I know the games don't support it.

FPSs on the other hand seem better suited on consoles. Lets face it you need the 360 degree analog stick to strafe effectively or even just shoot whats behind you fast enough. I remember having so much difficulty playing quake and using the arrow keys to move around. You could just buy a USB controller, I have one too BTW, but why not just play it on your console in the first place?!?
Hahahahah, no. Very no. Why do you think console shooters tend to have autoaim out the arse? It's to compensate for the fact that console controllers are shit at accurately controlling FPS games.

No offense but it sounds like you last played a PC FPS in the mid nineties and you weren't particularly knowledgable even at the time (or you would have been using WSAD), so that's a pretty ignorant opinion.

I would say rts really works just... so much better on PCs so exclusivity there would be just to ensure people don't spend money on a game that is frustratingly difficult to play with a controller... aside from that, every game i can think of is better to play on a pc... because your options for input devices are LIMITLESS... hell people have adapted Wii-motes to pc... you can get any form of controller input device you want and plug it into a pc and play anything you want with it... some controllers even have full button to keymap and whatnot options in their embedded software so even games that supposedly "don't allow controller input" are playable with a controller.

so PC for the win. consoles shouldn't be limited... though i would advise against playing RTS games on them because of a severely limited control device... but otherwise hell limits shouldn't exist in a world so based off of game developers wanting proffit... i say release every console game with a pc port through steam! then you make a good deal more money and everyone is happy :D

Fighting games like Street Fighter 4 should be on the Consoles. Saves money on buying perpetuals for the PC which help with the controls

There's no reason any game should be exclusive on any console. They are all computers. They all execute binary files. I still don't understand why we don't have cross-platform multiplayer (maybe because PC gamers would have an advantage, but still). All games should be able to run on all capable machines, and it's only publisher constraints that make things exclusive or non-portable.

What.

You do realise that mouse-look turns the camera faster than the analog stick, right?

RIGHT?

Oh... dear.

FPS should be only on PC.

There is not a single console FPS out that is not "dumbed down" for the pad-audience.

Same with RTS.

Fighting games (Street Fighter/Tekken and the like) should be on console. More precisely the PS. Xbox cant handle fighting games.
Xbox should be the ruler of 3rd person games. The stick on the xbox controller is pwning the PS stick as much as the PS pad is pwning the xbox pad.

It'd be pretty sweet, because frankly I don't really have the time or money to buy a new pc and update it regularly. I just wanna play an fps with mouse and keyboard because it kicks so much ass compared to a controller.

None, because DRM is bullshit and I'd rather play games on a console where I don't have to deal with it. Yes, even RTS games. I got Red Alert 3 for my PS3 instead of PC because of EA's SecuROM nonsense, and now I'll be skipping Command and Conquer 4 because of their Ubisoft-style "internet connection required" DRM.

Yes, it does suck playing with a pad, but you get used to it. Plus, there's really no reason why they can't allow you to plug in a USB keyboard and mouse other than their current phase of pride where every developer is SURE they can make their console RTS be the Halo of console RTS games. But hopefully, someone will give up on that nonsense and just allow keyboard and mouse support, causing other developers to follow suit.

Point and click adventure games.

I've played Riven on the PSX. (And yes, I remember when it was called the PSX, not PSone)

Though controllers have improved to the point where I don't know if it's necessarily the case anymore.

I completely disagree that FPS should be anywhere near consoles. Keyboard/mouse is far more natural than a controller when it comes to FPS.

It does not lend itself to racing games, however, as the variable speed input is somewhat lacking. I don't really play racing games myself, but I have played them, and I can state without a doubt that racing games belong on the Consoles. RTS is PC only. Everything else can go both ways, as long as it doesn't deprive me of a good PC version.

I get what you mean, 3d platformers (Jak and Daxter, Crash Bandicoot, Mario) don't seem suited to pcs and rts doesn't seem suited for consoles. Yet in each cse there are exceptions (Tomb Raider for pcs and megalomania err for snes). The challenge is not simply to copy an rts from pc to console but to make an rts that works.

My racing wheel and foot pedals for PC disagree with you. :p

For PC, honestly, there's a peripheral for that. You can put any genre on PC and make it work.

But some games (Sidescrollers, for example), don't always "feel" right - even though games like Cave Story make it work - there's something about the genre that just seems better on a TV while sitting on the floor.

That's why I said game support, not console support. ;)
