Either a game you'll never forget, or one that has absolutely changed your playing style . . .

For me, it'd have to be the Thief series.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. I loved all of the different paths through levels and secondary/tertiary objectives. I can still play that game and find some completely new option open to me.

FF7. I first played it when my cousin lent it to me as a kid. Before that I rarely bothered with gaming. But that game really got me in to gaming. I became completely addicted to it. God knows how many hours of my life I spent playing it. I still like to take it out and play it every now and again for the nostalgia.

The Secret of Monkey Island (when it first came out, obv). It showed me that games could be more than platforms and bonus fruit - they could have atmosphere, character, and genuine wit.

Call of Duty 4. It was my very first online game, and my first non-last-gen console game.

Before Left 4 Dead came around I never played multiplayer (Or with MMOs, I was too shy to talk to anyone).. Now I play multiplayer on any game and I'm not afraid to call some douche on my team a massive wanker. Another fine addition to the gaming community if I do say so myself!

That is an old title if I ever saw one . . . haven't played that in years.

When i was refering to Thief, it's impact on me has drastically changed my FPS style. I always tend to take a stealth approach whenever possible now, and that can make for some interesting gaming from time-to-time. Sadly, too many curent FPS don't properly support stealth tactics . . .

Hmm

Halo:CE, never played the others though.

Killzone, it was also suprising to learn that the ISA, the faction you play as, are actually the villians.

The Pokemon games, Red, Yellow and Silver are my favourites along with pokemon snap

Men of War and Total war made me fall in love with the RTS genre over all the others

Cant forget The Ocarina of Time.

and the early call of duty games had a massive effect on me too.

Heavy Rain.

Before that game, I used to be one of those gamers, who didn't care about the story, skipped all cutscenes and dialogs so that I could get into the action. After seeing what a good story can do to a game, I replayed a lot of those old games I used to play and realized they had good stories too. Now I take stories...well, "seriously"

Also, Cold War Crisis. After that, I couldn't really play any "arcade" type shooter for a while. Now when I play them, I use a lot more tactics than before.

If you've ever played this game, you know what I'm talking about.

Unreal Tournament series, I'll play every FPS like I'm playing UT. Whilst I won't be dodging off walls or down corridors, I will be jumping out of windows with shotguns and firing rocket launchers with insane precision. It really doesn't even matter how realistic the game is, I'll still run in like a crazy bastard.

Fallout 2 blew my mind, but the most important game would sadly be barbies underwater adventure, my first pc game and what made me love games, i would be so much poorer in experience and that much richer in valuta if not for that game.

Kingdom Hearts. The first time I played through I became completely engrossed in everything, and it marked the beginning of me tracking character progression on an emotional level. It was also the first game I owned that warranted a second playthrough, in my mind, but all the nifty story elements were old. Thus began my fascination with optimization, and I've haven't played a game from a non-number-crunching mindset since.

Resident Evil 4. I remember back when I was younger... the only real experience I've had with video games were Mario titles, Guitar Hero, and Call of Duty. And then I played Resident Evil 4. That was the first game I played that was an actual adventure. At any point, it could be scary, funny, intense, or just plain fun. The boss fights were fantastic, the levels were varied and never felt disjointed, and the graphics were great. It was my first real game and changed the way I look at video games.
