Well it's a tie between Fallout 3 just doing stupid stuff in the wastes, and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City just sitting in the car listening to the radio.

World of Warcraft. Dueling and talking with my guildies in Goldshire (To those who don't know, Goldshire is like a "hub". A lot of players gather there after a nights raiding or before raiding and just plain fool around or duel)

EDIT:

I do that in almost all GTA games. The radio is just plain awesome.

Garrys Mod.... I don't build stunning contraptions but instead I spawn a Antlion Guard and try to practise my ninja skills.

Mass Effect, I spent 7 hours wandering around the Citadel trying to find the docking bay.

Halo 3 Forge must count. Especially if you build Rube Goldberg machines.

By the way, I'm far too busy to do this myself. I just thought I should mention it.

Easily World of Warcraft.
Jumping on the bank roof in Orgrimmar is wasted time I'll never get back.

Shiaya of Eternity. I like it a lot and spend hours playing, but I never seem to get anything done unless I really buckle down and grind.

Metal Gear Solid 4 wins in this category. Though, I didn't mind.
This, just trying to get the Chicken emblem. I still failed to get it because I forgot about having to take many recovery items. Most wasted 30 hours ever.

world of warcraft ... i should stop alt tabbing to the escapist while on flight path and forgetting im playing the game
Meh I do that frequently.

Yeah same, MMO's in general. I waste ridiculous amounts of time...

I also wasted a good evening trying to sneak into the horde side of Dalaran ... I managed it eventually with a dive bombing crusader aura'd griffin. I then proceeded to leave my character dancing there for a while.

Edit: Holleee Shit, I just remembered. Black and White. Dear lord in Heaven the HOURS I wasted flinging villigers into grusome deaths. Making my creature do stupid things and seeing how much chaos I could cause with a single tree.

Screw the plot I wanted to fling creature feces at houses.

Probably Fable II - I just ended up doing loads of random ancilliary stuff that had no significance whatsoever to any quests...

I just thought I would put this post up asking people which game they have spent the most time on actually doing nothing

for me it would be fallout 3 as i have spent so much time aimlessly walking about doing absolutely nothing

second place is World of Warcraft(when i used to play it)
*ahem*

Mine is most definetly Oblivion, I must have spent hours walking around every town stealing all the random loot and putting it in barrels.
