what game has the best music?

-Golden Sun 1&2 (Garoh is the best)
-Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Gerudo Valley) or Majora's Mask (Clock Town on the 2nd day, Song of Healing)
-Halo 3: ODST

Of these three, I'd have to say ODST has my favourite music. The synthesis of jazz, african drumming, and electro that O'Donnell uses here is the most unique and effective I've ever heard to create a certain mood. Even by itself it's astounding.

Blue Dragon really surprized me by it's great soundtrack.

The boss-battle song is a bit over the top though.

The Halo series did have an excellent soundtrack. It fit in with the game well.

Brutal Legend for a fucking awesome metal track

Saints Row 2 has some great, varied stuff on some of the radio stations

Fallout 3's 50's score is just brilliant, though there's probably less than 15 songs in total so it starts to grate on the ears after awhile.

The Shadow of the Colossus sound track is just fucking epic.

'Splosion Man had several hilarious sound tracks, especially the donut song.

And of coarse Portal deserves a mention for the best credit song ever.

Ive gotta say halo the music, its a cross between Classic and rock(Sometimes) epic soundtrack for all of the games!

... sry bout that, it's just I agree with you all that those particular games have awesome music . But which one of those is the best?

OT: I'll go with Brutal Legend just because it's metal.

Doom, Halo 3, Brutal legend, pretty much every Valve game, Full Throttle has an excellent soundtrack as well as The Dig. I wasn't sure if I'd like the Fallout 3 soundtrack but I ended up loving it and sometimes caught myself singing loudly with Mighty Mighty Man by Roy Brown. Grim Fandango also had a great soundtrack and The Curse of Monkey Island.

Chrono Trigger. Yasunori Mitsuda may not be the musical genius that Nobou Uematsu is, but he created a gem with this one.

Also, Final Fantasy VII.
