The multiplayer in Resistance 2 was just horrible madness.
I really enjoyed the madness. It did have some skill unlike alot of "frag fests" and the big maps with combat moving all over the map with it focussed on different places at different times seemed to work really well, especialy on team deathmatch. In my opinion it is one of the most enjoyable online shooters (or at least out of those that I've played).
I usually like madness in online shooters, but there was something about the madness in Resistance 2 that just... didn't work out for me.
My guess is that it's, as you said, focused on one place.

having bought Metroid for the DS, i was all "HELL YEAH!! ONLINE MULTYPLAYER"

untill i played one and was left crying in a corner... it felt awfull.

also "shadowrun" was weird, not that many good things in the game and it was supposed to be only for multyplayer.

Gears of War 2. I mean the normal matches, not the co-op. It just felt so... strange. I just didn't like it. Also, despite it being a minor concern, it's really annoying trying to chainsaw-duel someone with one of those controllers where you can set it to mash the button insanely quickly by holding it down...

EDIT: And the bizzare thing is, I absolutely loved the multiplayer in the first one.

now go cry in your corner!
The single player was epic and had one of the best storylines in any game. It's kind of funny that the online is the complete opposite, a pile of shit lol.

Medal of Honor: Heros 2 for the Wii. The maps were crappy, the other players seemed to be able to 1 shot kill me while I was stuck unloading a clip into their heads and all it did was knock their helmet off. Plus you lose points for every death so after about a week of playing my score was like -300. My only option was to get the bazooka and suicide bomb the shit out of people.

I'm sorry what? How is that terrible multiplayer (leave out melee if you are complaining about elitists)? BLASPHEMY!
How is it terrible? The control scheme is terrible as essentially it is a button masher.
Actually button mashing is the absolute wrongest way possible to play SSB. No matter what anybody tries to say.

Your title pretty much explains what I'm about to say:

Left4me... I mead dead. Really, I thought it would be good, but it wasn't.

And it doesn't mean the game itself is bad, no, not at all. But I get paired up with two good blokes and one ass-hat who need to either 1.) straggle just to look for that one molotov he "think" he saw at the beginning or 2.) Runs off in the wrong way or 3.) the tosser that need to rush on ahead with his head painted flourecent green so that every elite zombie or horde glues their teeth to his forehead... see where I'm going with this?

This is why I ditched this game about a month after I got it. It happend EVERY game I played.

Ride Racer 7

Seriously if you have read any of my past post of this game then you will know how terribly shit i think it is.

Mortal Kombat vs DC
I've yet to join a match without it ending within the first 5 secs (no i'm being serious i really have not played one match where it just for some reason ends)

Metriod Prime 2: Shit Factor
Simpsons Hit and Run and do nothing else
Donkey Kong 64: Back when Rareware knew what it was doing, except not multiplayer for platformers.

And any bond game after World is Not Enough (back when I played this, I loved the multiplayer. Yes, it's not NEARLY as good as others out there, but was fun for the time.)

CoD4, because it's far, far, FAR too easy for my liking.

The Darkness, because it never stopped having such unbelievable lag, not to mention it felt vestigial.

Gears of War 2, because they effectively raped a good multiplayer in many ways.

I hate the button mashing argument, I'm sorry but I could take out any button masher without losing a single life (easily). The part about knocking off stage makes it original and different to all other fighters, and gives a lot of new 'strats' to try out.

Whining about graphics? Eh my favourite game is Warsow so I'm just going to say I couldn't really care.

Control scheme is perfect (IMO) and I agree that they are just adding little things so that the masses buy it, but its fun for the masses, and with what modders are doing to brawl it'll stay fun for a long time as well.

Single player is horrible I agree on that though.

(oh and if you don't manage to kill someone before 300% shame on you)

The button-mashing argument is really a no win situation. I have watched tournament players and while they say they are not mashing buttons, they also have a hard time consistently countering and doing the same moves. Plus the people who tend to win always use the same character and just spam one or two moves.

Graphics aren't really an issue to me, but when everything else sucks about a title, that gets put on the list. Been checking out Dwarf Fortress myself so clearly graphics aren't a deal breaker for me.

As for the control scheme, to me it is horrible, but the gameplay is abysmal, so that is probably directly related.

And while I haven't failed to kill someone before 300%, I have failed and gotten someone over 100% which prompted me to find out just how ridiculous that got. If you lose 100%, you are dead. Besides, all the game really is is wrestling, since you only win via a ring knockout.

All in all, to me the first game felt like a cheep cash in to make a few bucks while working on a good title elsewhere, and the success surprised Nintendo and they are just rushing to catch up. Thus each consecutive game feels like the last one with a quick layer of paint over top of it.

But in the end it is all just opinion. Many many people like the game, and more power to them. To me, it is one of the top 5 worst games I have ever played (and I have played ET for Atari, AND the CDi Zelda titles).

... I'm sorry but you are comparing SSB to ET for Atari? Something is wrong with you and I think sales show that. % is used as a way to show damage, IF you chose so, you can play in stamina mode where you do in fact die after an amount of damage taken (just like master or crazy hand)
Maybe you mistook button mashing for wavedashing? In any case I play any char and can beat any random button masher or someone who has been playing for a while thanks to experience and control over the game itself.
Now take a look at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBhBYNwChU0 I only took a few seconds to find it, and its a great display of how controlled the game is. (Ignore the fact that fox and falco are similar so you don't start blabbering on about using the same moves)

If you can't see the major (gameplay) differences between SSB SSBM and SSBB then I believe I'm wasting my time arguing.

Oh and the free card of playing a retro or indie game (I know what Dwarf Fortress is) is really just a lame excuse for hypocrisy.
Oh and while I'm on a rant:

Can't give an opinion on Darkness, agree on gears of war, but COD 4 is easy for everyone, not just you (that's the challenge).

FIFA 09, it just never worked for me. Seriously, getting to the lobby failed like the first 6 times, then once I got there there was never any matches.

Call of Duty 4, WaW (And most likely Modern Warfare 2)

All anyone cares about is how many of the many glitches in the game you know, the weapons are imbalanced and playing 5 *cough* different *cough* game-types to grind for an achievement called "Get some Sun" isn't my idea of fun.
