I only ever rage-quit once, and it wasn't because the game was hard, it was because I hated the story so much.

Seriously, your plan is to let the most evil, powerful sorceress EVER DESTROY TIME? Are you mad?!
That's why FF8 was awesome. None of this sacrifice or meaningful dialogue bullshit. I'll just have my pessimistic life view with a side order of timefuck, thanks.

But uhhh... probably Tekken 6, either online or offline.

Offline: Azazel. What a bastard. In order to beat him you have to pretty much forget everything you know about Tekken and just use one combo to hit him over and over then hope for the best, wishing he wouldn't keep teleporting from the ceiling and hitting you on your yet-unbroken back.

Also, Nancy. That thing is twice as bad.

Online: People who play as Eddie; people who play as Christie; people who play as Paul and crack off a lucky Phoenix Punch etc...

Ninja Gaiden 2 here. Never finished it either.
I gotta agree with this, it's so awesome when you're doing well, but then 1 enemy will just hit you from off-camera and youll be pounded into the ground for all eternity.

I rage quit Suikoden III. This was even before my contempt for JRPGs were in full bloom, and I was getting really tired of the long and boring cutscenes. The problem with it was that it was not voice acted, which is normally fine, but it would also scroll its text at its own speed, which is supremely slower than a human can read. This is worsened by the fact that there is no way to fast forward or skip. It was already straddling the line of my patience, and then I got screwed in a battle, died, and then had to sit through the cutscene again, in its entirety, unable to fast forward or skip.

Oh, and also? They made sure to protect themselves from having me go and make a sandwich to wait out the cutscenes by making sure that I had to press a button at the end of each slowly scrolling portion of text. The game actually went out of their way to make sure that they covered their bases so that I couldn't get out of watching their lame cutscenes every single time.

Even just thinking about it, I almost rage quit posting about it.

Killing Floor.

My god, it's bad enough when I suck but when it freezes up when I'm doing well and I die losing all my money which creates an endless doom spiral of constant death it's not fun anymore.

But then I actually broke a few controllers playing the DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi games. Then again those PS2 controllers aren't as durable as the GameCube's.
I remember fighting Buu and getting my ass handed back to me every time I tried to do anything against him. After the 100th death I remember going crazy and trying to bite clean through my controller, it didn't work but it sure did make a real satisfying sight to see it explode when I threw it at the wall.
I've never rage quit in any game. I'm probably phsycotically calm.

I can see where you're coming at with the Killing Floor thing, getting money on suicidal is a deathly grind.

You wouldn't know it talking to me, but I'm an angry guy on the inside. Normally I keep my anger under control while playing games, but occasionally it bleeds out a bit.

Some of the specific things that have managed to make me rage quit me off over the years include:

The final boss of Super Mario World 2 (I can beat this pretty easily now.)

Dashin Desperadoes. An obscure racing/ platformer hybrid for the Genesis/Megadrive. Had a face meltingly unfair single player mode. It was really meant to be played with a buddy.

Ecco the Dolphin. Pretty much every level after The Vents. (But I did finally finish it.)

Ecco the Dolphin: The Tides of Time. Rage quit after spending about two hours trying to beat The Skyway. Memories of Dark Water from the first game and the knowledge that this was only like the third or fourth level convinced me to shelf the game permanently. (A shame considering I really enjoyed what I managed to get through.)

Sonic the Hedgehog 3. That mother fucking barrel. Sonic fans, you know the one.

Just about rage quit Sonic Adventure 2 trying to A rank Mad Space and just finishing all the missions on Route 101/280

Last boss of Starfox Adventures. It pissed me off so badly that I knew exactly how to beat Andross in Starfox 64 but in Adventures it gave you no fucking bombs.

The original Devil May Cry.

Devil May Cry 3 had a game mode called Heaven or Hell where everything from you to bosses die in one hit. DMC 4 took frustration to a whole new level with a game mode called Hell or Hell where enemies remain on Son of Sparta level but you still die in one hit. I've finished all of Nero's missions but I haven't worked up the courage to attempt Dante's.

Splinter Cell: Double Agent on Elite. It's the same as Expert difficulty wise, except there's literally no ammunition in the whole game. This isn't super big issue for experienced Splinter Cell players such as myself, but it makes the end of the last mission damn near impossible.

Oh god I remember this. It was horrible.

But for me probably Left 4 Dead. I've gotten stuck with shitty teammates who have no clue how to play many times.

CoD:2.

I have been attempting to beat this game on veteran since I got it with my Xbox 2 years ago. I still have three American missions to go. Seriously, I will play for a half-hour, swear way to much, then shut it off and play Hexic to cool off. Rinse, repeat.

Neverwinter Nights 2...

Apparently, for some reason, on one of the quests, I cannot complete it. I completed it on my very first game, but when I made another, I couldn't fucking beat it. AND IT'S THE FIRST QUEST IN THE GAME!

Castlevania (The original), mostly on the Death stages.
Izuna: Legend of The Unemployed Ninja. Why do I lose everything I'm holding if I die, why isn't there more than one save point, and why the hell is the last dungeon 41 levels long and even if you're at level 99 it's still unlikely you'll win?
And... do I even need to say it? I Wanna Be the Guy for painfully obvious reasons.

Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 2. They just piss me off. Explain to me how the game makes me die from a sniper through three concrete walls and then when the other team has an AC 130, and then get spawn killed by that damn AC 130 5 times in a row.

Well, try the new Left 4 Dead 2! The AI has honestly been improved and it was good in the first place, especially compared to other game AI's. The team mates are actually helpful without wasting supplies needlessly. I thought the first was okay, but the second is excellent.

Also-I'm still stuck trying to beat the ghostly blue setting on Eternal Darkness. Guy just won't die on the WWII Journalist level. Even with the purple energy cheats I can't drop him. :/
