For me, Heavy Rain, Fallout 3 and, even though this may seem weird, Miles Edgeworth Ace attorney: investigations. I played that game in one sitting (it helps that its a short game) and then I played it again straight afterwards, even though there aren't any multiple endings. I found it immersive and enjoyable.

Total immersion, eh? Lemme think about it...

Well, I get pretty immersed in NHL games but that doesn't count. As for RPGs and whatnot, I can't think of a single example of total immersion. Extermination came close despite not being a good game. Fable tried but failed. Resident Evil 1 and 2 didn't do too badly.

i have to say portal... i have never left a game unfinished, if i put portal on i know i wont stand up untill its over, thats what i love about portal

and on the side note, there is also Mass Effect 2, i am loving every second of it, and they dont seem like robots when they are talking (at least not to me)

too bad that i can only play 3 or 4 hours a day

The KOTOR series, Half Life series, Deus Ex, System Shock 2, FF VI.

All great immersive games, but one that surpasses them all is none other than the majestic experience of Planescape: Torment. Sure, the game's too buggy to be played without a patch, the combat isn't impressive, but the dialogs, the music, the story... I dragged me in more than anything else I had been exposed to. The hours just flew me by. Just... Perfect.

I forgot to mention the Golden Sun. Kicks ass. Kind of wish there's gonna be a third installment.

I gotta go with CoD: MW2 and Left 4 Dead. Both had me jumping from my controller or moving from gun fire. Even screaming orders into my mic as if we were really in trouble.

As a tie in I have to toss in Fallout 3 as well. I couldn't leave him out.

When I was playing Oblivion non-stop I was instantly immersed, but that was a while ago. Fallout was good, but not as much. I do have to say Morrowind was just as good if not better then Oblivion when it came to me being immersed. The diversity of the world was huge and vast.

Rock Band 2 made me feel like I was on stage and performing music to people / fans.

Surprisingly, RTS' really get me immersed, honestly, After i played C&C3, i have tried forming strategic plans while making dinner.

Also the Hitman series, after playing these games, and even Assassins Creed, i have walked round trying to remain undetected, as my mind slowly forms escape plans to leave if anyone notices me.
