Final Fantasy. It had it's time, but since Square Enix was formed it's really gone downhill.

HALO, please, no more of that trash, and Halo can take Gears of War while it swirls round the bowl.
When was the last time you played a HALO game?

I practically think this goes without saying: Madden. (Okay, maybe it doesn't go without saying, but it sounded cool when I typed that)
Pumping a game out every year with no big changes is bad enough, but the series is about a concept that doesn't leave any room for innovation.

This is probably going to be taken badly but honestly I think Mario needs to stop....before it's just another Sonic tragedy and existing only for nostalgia and our generation.

Spyro The Dragon - Oh for the love of God, pleeeeeaaaase let it die. The original trilogy was awesome, but without Insomniac for the development and Stewart Copeland for the music... It's just an empty husk.

COD, Medal Of Honor, Battlefield, etc. Not ALL of them, but there are just too many 'modern warfare' shooters these days, most of them sprung forth from long running series. Time to weed out a few.

Many many many things by Nintendo. ESPECIALLY all those spin-off games Nintendo whores its characters out to. I mean, I can't blame the company, it pretty much feeds on loyal fanboyism like a vampire (REAL vampire, not Ed Cullen) does on blood, so KA-CHING goes the register. And I've always compared Nintendo strict G-ratings to the "keep it G/PG"-system of Hollywood: it's all about the cash.

And to all those who list Final Fantasy: sorry, but no.
At least Square-Enix still has the freakin' cojones to change the formula for each game, as opposed to, let's say, Nintendo (lookin' at you, Pokémon). Sure, not every formula works equally well, but at least they didn't milk the materia system for all it's worth - like so many others would have done. (Just for the record: I hated FF XIII, FF X-2's only redeeming factor was the combat system, FF VIII had the most paradoxal magic-system ever, FF XII had a sucky story and online FF's just don't interest me).

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Stop making this one and finish the cel-shaded awesome one that you left on a cliffhanger. There was an expansion pack and a DS game I didn't care about, but the cel-shaded one was pretty awesome and I would like to see its full blown sequel, not another Sands of Time-related cash in. I know one hasn't been announced since the Forgotten Sands, but still...
Are you serious? The new PoP was absolutely awful... I even wrote a review to prove it!

Well, excuuuuuuse me for enjoying a great game. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the cel-shaded prince, and (HOLY SHIT!) enjoyed the cel-shaded wall-running magic-induced antics of the new Prince over the whiny rewind-time antics of the old one. Also, I only skimmed your review but you say there is very little plot in the game. One of the main mechanics of the game is the ability to talk to Elika anytime, and maybe if you'd tried you'd know there was a fairly good plot to it, though nothing award worthy.

Also, the big shit over Elika rescuing you right before death? Yeah, that's essentially unlimited lives and 5-minute checkpoints which is a feature of every major game this whole generation, and was in many, many games before that. They built in an explanation for his reincarnations and OMG THIS GAME IS SO EASY! was all of a sudden a complaint.

(but I must agree with combat, it was ok at first but then got dry and boring. Luckily it didn't happen enough to bother me.)
As you said, you only skim read my review. I think if you take a proper look I have most of your points covered.

As for the Elika rescues, no game I've ever played has checkpoints that close together!

Anything made by Nintendo-
All the mario games are the same
Plumber loves princess, princess gets captured, plumber illegally trespasses on Bowser's property because he things he is a super cop, Princess gets rescued and bowser gets away by putting mushrooms in the police's coffee.

This is precisely the answer I would have given. You said it best, so I don't need to repeat it.

All modern day and WWII shooters. Give it a couple years then come back. But for now.... just piss off, seriously.

If this was a year ago I would have said Guitar Hero. Thankfully that did end (although it should have happened much sooner). Long live Rock Band, it might be a formula but it works and HMX have managed to do it without seeming to just follow a gimmick.

As for anything else, what I would really like is for games to end when they should. If a game comes out with a great self serving story and concept then it doesn't need a sequel. The same with something like Mass Effect, I know there will be more games after ME3 but I wish it would just end when it's meant to.

I'd like to see more franchises come to a conclusion (I'm assuming Halo did this but I've still yet to play it.) Rather than going on for too long and loosing the message. I too tire of games like Call of Duty being released constantly but as has already been said, I can choose not to buy these games if the series bores me as was the case with Resident Evil. The same applies to sports games, I have no real issue with them, I don't play them but people are prepared to. Honestly do constant sport titles and Call of Duty games really hurt anybody? They give developers and publishers the consistent income to sometimes try out new IPs (like say Dead Space).

Don't know if it's been said yet, but I think Resident Evil should end. It's just not interesting anymore, especially since they feel the need to copy every other shooter to stay in the zone now.
