Sonic, Final Fantasy and Resident Evil jumped the shark *years* ago. They just need to be put down quickly and quietly.

For the hardcore fan, that's $60 well-spent. They will get hundreds of hours of enjoyment out of it over the next year. I was talking to a fan the other day and he enjoys seeing how Madden changes up every year. Nothing major, but they do play around with how you call plays.
I'd probably put fighting games in the same category as Madden. They usually have some thin "Enter The Dragon" style plot to explain the tournament, and typically center on the same old familiar faces that everyone has been playing for the last 20 years. As a non-fan, I really don't see why people keep buying these things... but a fighting fan will get major bang for his buck because of the hundreds of hours he spends playing it. Wouldn't it be better if they just added the handful of new characters in a DLC?
meh people saying final fantasy are silly. sure they could drop the title "final fantasy" but they'd just make games similar with a different name .
and yeah CoD is going nowhere soon.
but i'd say pokemon is getting a little ridiculous now so maybe that. mario's fine since its for kids just getting into gaming really, or at least thats how i see it.

Call of Duty, Final Fantasy, Mario (The old SNES ones were good, but they've been shit since then), and... Well, I know it's not really a series, but MOVIE TIE-IN GAMES.

Halo. This is kind of a preemptive strike though, since everyone's saying Halo ended on a high note (I've never played Reach or any of the recent games other than Halo 3). Bungie has stopped development of Halo, but we all know Microsoft is just gonna milk that poor cash cow.

Tomb Raider. I liked tomb raider, really but they?re just trying to milk a dead cow now. Enough with the reboots. I?m actually interested in the latest tomb raider but I?m not quite sure why it?s even a tomb raider game instead on of new IP. Same with POP.

looking through, i think you were actually the first! i agree, but after a proper send off. maybe compromise, make another game similar to resi 4, and then be done with it. i enjoy the games thoroughly, but its strayed too far from its roots to be called resident evil imo. but i want a better ending to a series than resi 5...LobsterFeng said:

Medal of Honor, Devil May Cry, Call of Duty, sports titles that try to be realistic over fun, Rockband, almost all Capcom game that aren't being made by their original devd or are just cash-cows, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Prince of Persia Sands of Time, Ezio Assassin's Creed games, Uncharted, etc.
I'd say Sonic, but they're improving, slowly. So, they get the benefit of the doubt.
And seriously people, MARIO? Mario needs to end? You really want to see the mascot of our entire genre just fade away? Without him, we have Call of Duty silhouette cover soldier as our mascot to the rest of the world. Does any one really want that? Have Mario games really been that bad? I don't think they've been anywhere near terrible, let alone that terrible.
