jade empire (with legit rpg parts)
and beyond good and evil
hell, while i'm at it: Half Life (yeah, i said it)
Duke Nukem, in a parody of forever, with duke as a jaded old man trying to make himself matter again after the events of dnf bite him in the ass, and a new hero takes over. pretty much like what the muppets did

X-wing games.

Hell, the space combat simulator genre for all I care, and not the arcade ones like Rogue Squadron, I mean the ones where you sit in a cockpit and manage your fighter's power distribution while shooting down torpedoes aiming for your exhaust pipe and chasing down tie fighters, interceptors, and bombers going for your capital ship which is also engaged with the enemy capital ship which is 50% more powerful and bigger than your capital ship.
You want evochron mercenary then my friend :)

Elite - Elite 4 needs to happen soon.
Sim City - I think the devs feel they dug themselves into a corner with the games growing complexity but in reality there are quite a lot of aspects of city management that haven't been tapped and stream lining that could be done to keep the complexity manageable.
Startopia - Great game that didn't sell. Perfect example of humor done right in a game.
Midwinter - Holy shit this game was an open world First Person Action/Adventure/Simulation/Shooter? with light RPG elements in a 3D world made in 1989... so many years ahead of its time.
Master of Orion - only 2 games isn't fair (there is no #3. it was all just a horribly nightmare)
Sacrifice - Another "GGTDS"
Front Mission (tactical strategy) - At the very least lets get some english localization on the other games and sell on the PSN store.
Arcanum - Amazing world and solid concept that just needed some interface and mechanics tweaks.
Powermonger - an often overlooked bullfrog gem. Its dated and unlikely to be an AAA title but I would love to see what a small dev team could do with the game.

It's funny, I was literally just thinking on this today. Point for point.

I came to four primary conclusions/choices, one of them being Psychonauts. The other three were as follows:

It would be amazing to get a true HD remake of this game as well as real, solid, contemporary sequels. Look at Rayman Origins. If there were any evidence that quality, 2D side-scrollers can still be amazing, that was it. A new Earthworm Jim would be phenomenal.

I'm a sucker for both well-made RTS games and mech-based combat. Couple that with my undying love of the Battletech story universe and the MechCommander series has been a personal favorite for years. I'd love to see a new entry.

Homeworld was, and in some ways still is, one of the greatest RTS games ever crafted. The story, the setting, the pacing, the graphics, the art, the music...all were astoundingly high quality. I still assert it had one of the finest sci-fi stories ever put to a game. Relic Studios still exists, and is quite successful at this point too. And, they still own the rights to this series. (I believe) So it would be a dream come true to see them rebirth this series. Either with a real sequel (HW2 wasn't that great) or an HD remake of the original. But unlike my other choices, this one is technically possible.
HW2 was still better from a multiplier perspective as the two races were diffident(Vaygr for life) rather then having 2frigs and one strike craft differences between them.
The game play movement commands were also an improvement I enjoyed greatly.
I'll grant you that, but I felt the campaign wasn't nearly as good as the first games. I might've ruined it for myself, as I went into it expecting something stellar. (no pun intended) Like what I experienced with the first game. But still, I wasn't as "blown away" with Homeworld 2 as I was with Homeworld.

Mechwarrior please! I loved that game many years ago when Mechwarrior 2 was out. I didn't care for 3 and 4. I would love to see a new one though. I know they were working on it but came into some legal trouble. I also liked the Crysis mod they made for it.

Jeez. I mention that game from time to time and no one ever knows what I'm talking about. That game was freakin' great back in the day. I'd love to see it return to the modern gaming scene, be it a sequel or a graphical update of the original.

Additionally, I too would like to see another Homeworld title like many of the other people in this topic, but more than that... I want System Shock 3, if for nothing else but to put an actual conclusion to the story since SS2 left us with a cliffhanger.

Parasite Eve.

Yeah I know there was that 3rd birthday nonsense that they pretty much just slid under the rug and didn't bother announcing. I hope one can understand why I might not count that as a revival of the series.

No, the first P.E. was a fun modern Sci-Fi RPG which is a setting that doesn't get nearly enough attention and although I admit that some of the mechanics weren't perfect to the point of being downright goofy (What do you mean a 500 round fully automatic handgun with sniping capabilities and incendiary rounds isn't realistic?) it was still one of the best RPG's of the PSX era.

P.E. 2 Maybe wasn't the runaway hit that they were hoping for but it was a solid game and a serviceable follow up to the previous entry.

Right now, I really, really, really want to see a return to Homeworld.

And I want to see it done right, rather than dumbed down for the sake of "accessibility" and/or "attracting players new to the Homeworld series". Homeworld 2 was accessible without being condescending. But somehow, I get the strongest feeling that if one of most well-known development studios were to start work on a Homeworld sequel today, the end result would be... ugh. That's just my cynicism talking, though.

Hell, I'll even take Homeworld 2 with updated graphics (incidentally, same with Starcraft but that's had its sequel released fairly recently so it probably doesn't count for this particular thread... I'd absolutely love to play Starcraft's campaigns with SC2 graphics though!).
What this guy said. Glad to see one of my favorite games series of all time show up on the first page of the topic, because I didn't get to it fast enough.

Edit: Reading through the rest of the topic, apparently a fair number of other people are in agreement. Damn, do I miss those games...

agree with you on that
The story just raised so many questions(Bentusi in particular) and lacked the variety of missions the first game and cataclysm had. It also tended to rely on mass numbers of ships and your tight unit cap to make it difficult rather then stratagy.

Fear Effect. My favourite PS1 game series, with both games in the series being in my top 10 of all time.
Agree completely. That was a great game. I never played the sequel, which was briefly infamous for a cheesecake ad [http://wallpapersgallery.net/v/Video-Games/Fear-Effect-2-Retro-Helix/Fear-Effect-2-Retro-Helix-204-6.jpg.html] they ran for it, which seems pretty tame by today's standards. Would definitely pick it up if I found it in a used games bin, though.

Someone else mentioned Black, and I second the nomination. After Red Faction and Rainbow Six convinced me that console shooters could never work, Black was the game that changed my mind.

Also, Too Human. Don't hate me, I wanna know how it ends. :(

A free-to-play MMOTPS from Team Beam, published by NC Soft.

Nothing else really compares in terms of gameplay or visual design. It was painfull to watch it die.

Dungeon Keeper. Oh god, how I love Dungeon Keeper. Even just a remake of the first one (keeping all the elements that made the original so great, just updating the graphics more than anything), so it plays on modern machines, D:

Crash Bandicoot. After that viking funeral the developers of the most recent game (Crash of the Titans I believe) gave him, I think now is a perfect time for him to make a comeback. I miss the little guy.

Someone may have already said this, but I cast my vote for the Mana series.

Legend of Mana was the odd man out of the series, but I love that game (it's my favorite game, actually) and I'd love it if they made another game like that.

Or even just another game like the old classic ones.

Dawn and Heroes of Mana were not good games for the series to go out on...

I guess right now it would be Hotel Dusk/ Last Window (the detective games that invole Kyle Hyde) since the comapny who made it Cing is gone.

Also I would love to see games like Metal Arm: Glitch in the System, Gotch Force and Phantom Crash making a return from the dead.

Absolutely! I miss those ones! I spent about 3/4 of my game time in my teens playing TIE Fighter (Collector's version); used to be able to tell you the specs on almost every ship, too.

Someone is trying to (finally) resurrect the genre; solexodus.com
