Right now, I really, really, really want to see a return to Homeworld.

And I want to see it done right, rather than dumbed down for the sake of "accessibility" and/or "attracting players new to the Homeworld series". Homeworld 2 was accessible without being condescending. But somehow, I get the strongest feeling that if one of most well-known development studios were to start work on a Homeworld sequel today, the end result would be... ugh. That's just my cynicism talking, though.

Hell, I'll even take Homeworld 2 with updated graphics (incidentally, same with Starcraft but that's had its sequel released fairly recently so it probably doesn't count for this particular thread... I'd absolutely love to play Starcraft's campaigns with SC2 graphics though!).
What this guy said. Glad to see one of my favorite games series of all time show up on the first page of the topic, because I didn't get to it fast enough.

Edit: Reading through the rest of the topic, apparently a fair number of other people are in agreement. Damn, do I miss those games...
Homeworld can never get enough love. Ever.

I would've also mentioned Z but my cynicism when it comes to today's developers getting their grubby hands on Z is markedly higher than my cynicism when it comes to developers and Homeworld. As in, I feel like they're more likely to stuff up Z than Homeworld.

X-wing games.

Hell, the space combat simulator genre for all I care, and not the arcade ones like Rogue Squadron, I mean the ones where you sit in a cockpit and manage your fighter's power distribution while shooting down torpedoes aiming for your exhaust pipe and chasing down tie fighters, interceptors, and bombers going for your capital ship which is also engaged with the enemy capital ship which is 50% more powerful and bigger than your capital ship.
Absolutely! I miss those ones! I spent about 3/4 of my game time in my teens playing TIE Fighter (Collector's version); used to be able to tell you the specs on almost every ship, too.

Someone is trying to (finally) resurrect the genre; solexodus.com

Z
Hah, at first I thought you were referring to Z in your post but then I looked at your name and I realized that it was probably just your signature. :p

Or, hell, the entire Space-sim genre. Yeah, it is kinda still here with Egosoft and the X-series, and there's a couple of little blips like Evochron Mercenary and SOL, but man, what I'd give to have another proper Freespace and/or Freelancer game...

Also Metal Arms.

You deserved better dammit...

THAT GAME WAS BLOODY AMAZING. You almost made me cry when I remember the fun I had with that game and will never have again. You are amazing for simply remembering that this game existed.

my two cents: Jade Empire!

seeing how BioWare is EA's ***** now, i actually do not see that sequel happening, because all EA cares about is money, and EA is not done milking them for Mass Effect and Dragon Age >.<

P.S. i curse that day EA decided to give C&C generals to BioWare

edit: sorry for going off topic... a bit tired :p

This game was the best party game I ever played and better than any mario party game I ever played, but I can guarantee if they made another one it would suck dick.

Klonoa
There's a MOTHER4 slowly being made by a group of fans, Cross didn't happen,
and that last one is still around, Namco just needs to make more of it, ffs.

Spyro
I would use my money to have insomniac take the franchise over again because no other existing spyro game was/is as great as the 3 they made

Abes Oddessey/Exodus. More of that would be awesome, or maybe the similar title, Heart of Darkness.

Why not Parappa the Rapper too? That was a great game!

Or a proper sequal to the Adventures of Alundra... (As Alundra 2 just sucked, and was essentially a completely different game!)

Freedom Force. No doubt.

Come on, Irrational, make THIS happen. Yes, Bioshock is good and all, but how could you end The Third Reich on THAT ending, and keep us waiting THIS freaking long for some kind of resolution?!

While I am generally against brigning games back, a second bully game and a third suffering game would be my only 2 wishes, that i can think of off the top of my head.
I can actually list more series i wish they had just stopped than those i wish they had carried on...

Wrath Unleashed.... just because I liked the stratagy.... the fighting element... not so much. But I digress, I would love to see a sequal of that game... and also an HD remake of Magestorm... a Fantasy MMOFPS, and it was friggin awesome.... I WANT IT BACK!

Legacy of Kain
Silent Hill (you think everything after The Room is true Silent Hill? how cute!)
Police Quest (Not SWAT, I'm talking about another adventure with Sonny Bonds or new characters, although I wouldn't mind SWAT coming back again)
Brothers in Arms (although it "ended" in a high note I think)

Star Wars Battlefront. Given the popularity of the games (they were Star Wars games that revolved around the movie events, that didn't suck) then, and the amount of people that wanted another, I think it could work. Give it a revamp in features and graphics but keep the old Battlefront game in and you have a winner.

Just an honourable mention to a game that couldn't really work again but did in its day, Hogs of War, it was bloody hilarious.

Spyro.

Yes, it's still around, but look at it now. It is simply having it's corpse used as a puppet.

Even an HD Rerelease of the first three Spyro games would be nice for me, but I want the series to continue with the level of awesome the first three had.

There was a rumor going around a while back that Silicon Knights was actually working on a sequel to Eternal Darkness. Not sure if anything ever came of it, though.

For my part, I would be down for a revival of the Wing Commander series or the Freespace series. Space combat sims FTW.

Also, there was a goofy little online mech game called Cyberstrike that I first played back in the AOL days, if you can believe that. Bringing something like that back would be fun, but I think Hawken might be gearing up to fill that void.

yeah, its a sad story. one of my favorite games on the gamecube. never beat it either, i just got to the penultimate boss fight then got stuck, sold it (in one of my most regretted moves yet), and haven't played since. but oh my gawd was the time i spent playing fun.

also, wikipedia says the studio got bought by blizzard. any other sources to confirm this? because i would not be surprised, though it seems odd blizzard would do something like that, being as there was basically no competition since blizzard games were all rpgs or strategy games (or a combination of the 2).

indeed, joyous tears of nostalgia were wept at the memories of this game. it has joined the list of games i wish i could privately fund in order to finish. (the list is short, though i really wish i could have played tabula rasa when it was out, i feel like i missed something with that game).

it has also made me decide to go out and find another copy to hold and cherish for all eternity. i already knew i would wind up with a PS2 and Gamecube collection for most of my life (after realizing the mistake i made in selling them), but i guess it starts a bit earlier than i had planned. :)
