Instead of a remake of Shenmue, I'd love to see Shenmue 1&2 coupled with a a new Shenmue that concludes the series. They would be playable seamlessly from beginning of Shenmue through the end of Shenmue 3 with entirely remade graphics and controls optimized for the system it's on; I'd say ps3 since the blu ray is most capable of holding all this on one disc.
To keep players from needlessly playing Shenmue 1&2 over again, the game should have a chapter selection thingy like in the New alone in the Dark, or a Quiz mini game that asks you important storyline questions and then unlocks the new game.
That would be amazing. However, if it tanked, it might be the end of Sega forever, but I could live with that and die happy knowing how the series ends. I know that this will never happen. The best we'll ever get is a dvd movie possibly in dreamcast realtime that finishes off the story, and SEGA's even canceled that for the time being from what I understand.
I bet a 3d remake of FF6 will eventually come out on the DS, or if it take too long, Nintendo's next portable system. FF4 comes out in a month. It looks decent, but I kinda prefer the sprites over the 3d style. Regardless, FF4 on ds certainly isn't worse than the original, which si by far the weakest out of the 3 Final Fantasies originally on Super Nintendo. Still, FF6 in 3d would be nothing short of amazing if done well.
A good remake of the original Xenogears would be nothing short of Epic. I love the combat system. So, really all that needs changing is the graphics and possible throw in the occasional good voice acting, and we're set.
With the Metal Gear Series at a close, the most obvious choice for further milking the franchise would be to make 3d remakes of Metal Gear 1&2 (originally for the MSX). I know that I'd play those games. I think Kojima really wants to move onto something else though. On one hand, we'll get less franchise milking, but on the other, we also get less fan service.
