Want your opinion heard? Have questions for the staff? Now's your chance!

This week, staff will be dropping in and out of the thread to post responses to the question below and reply to yours. From there, feel free to keep the discussion going until next Wednesday when a new topic goes up. We may even respond over the weekend while we're playing Genre Wars [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/content/genrewars].

Consider this your chance to join us in some lively debating and hopefully good times. We can't wait to discuss.

This week's discussion topic: What game do you wish you could replay as if you'd never played it; in other words, what game would you love to have fresh eyes for today?

I was too young to really appreciate Super Metroid. I kind of passed over it and played it as a rental for a few days, but never beat it. It deserves a second look, but I wish I could've given it the initial look it deserved back when it came out.

KoTOR. I accidentally spoiled the big twist for myself before I actually got to it... and I'd LOVE to actually get that feeling of "holymotherfuckingshit!" I should have in the first place.

Other than that, I'd say Oblivion.

~~Definitely Okami. It was one of those games I wish I hadn't played, just so I could experience the joy of playing it for the first time again. It was amazing, why don't more games crib Zelda? Beautiful art, music, atmosphere, gameplay, and story. RIP Clover.

When I started gaming, I didnt have the ability to stick to a title to the end.
So I had allot of muddled playthroughts.
Doing it all over would be a great feeling. I mean the game still feels epic to me.

Dead Space, System Shock 2, F.E.A.R. and BioShock, all because after you play them the first time, you get into the routine of what to do, where to go, and what to expect. It'd be great to go back and play through them again without knowing what's next.

Bioshock

a year after finishing it, i'm in the process of another play-through and actually appreciating the game for what it is instead of rushing through it like i did the first time.

I'd love to go back and play Ocarina of Time again when it first came out, as to date, no game has come close to recapturing those same feelings I had when I first played it.

Definitely Bioshock, since I played it on a crappy laptop while already knowing the big twist.
Doesn't make it such a spectacular experience as you might think.

Probably the original Super Smash Bros. It was one of the first games to get me truly addicted to, and the idea seemed so original back then.

The Kingdom Hearts series or the Jak series.

Or maybe Bioshock.
Because I love the story in all three.

Well I have to pick something I played when I was just a little kid. I still love it, but when I got it was such a joyous moment. Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I remember my big brother playing through the first boss, the spider Queen Gohma, it felt like it took a day for him to complete it. When I first attempted, damn did I think it was hard. I realize now it was just my inability to play properly that made it so hard, but maybe it was also that which made it so funny. Nowadays it's just about plowing through games. The childish feeling of gaming has sort of changed for me. I still love playing games like KotOR and Mass Effect, but they'll never give me that childish feeling Link gave me when I first braved the insides of the Deku Tree.
If I got it now however, maybe it wouldn't give me that same satisfaction. Maybe I just want to go back in time for a bit. Really though, things always seem more awesome once they're gone.

To be fair, I'd much rather want a new game to really inspire me and move gaming forward instead. Which in my opinion, games do all the time! Makes me happy!:D
