What game would you want to play again for the first time?

Do you remember that game? The one that captivated you when you first played it? That game that made you truly enjoy this pastime? Maybe you had been anticipating it for a while, maybe you started it on a whim.

So Escapists, if you could go back and play that one game for the first time again, which would it be?

I'd go with Grim Fandango. I had played the demo and enjoyed it well enough. I convinced my parents to buy me the game because it interested me. Once I got to Rubacava, I was absolutely floored. The setting, the style, the complexity, it all just clicked for me. I may not have been the best at the game as I was 12 at the time but damn, I loved every minute of it from that moment on.

Inb4 Portal.

OT: Dark souls. To experience that bone crushing mind blowing difficulty before having learned the tricks of the trade ( the hard way i may add). Hopefully Dark souls 2 will do the trick.

Tales of Symphonia
Golden Sun
Golden Sun: The Lost Age
Dark Souls
Dishonored
Resident Evil 6

There are more absolutely amazing games, but I have a hard time choosing. :{ If I had to choose at gun point, I'd probably do Dishonored.

Final Fantasy X. Watching the plot unfold was truly a unique experience the first time I played it. I loved how most of the characters seemed stereotypical or even cartoonish on the surface, but almost all of them became fully fleshed out in their own right over time. The incredible score and beautiful environments coupled with the grindy nature of JRPGs (which I had much more tolerance for at the time) put me into a sort of peaceful trance at times where I was totally immersed in the game world in a way that I don't think I have been since.

Resident Evil 6 ? Really ? I need to hear about this . Why would you want to replay Resident Evil 6 as if it was the first time ?

BioShock, maybe because I've been thinking about the series a lot lately and I just pre-ordered Infinite's Ultimate Songbird Edition, but nevertheless I'd love to experience that sense of awe and fear again. I really enjoyed the feeling of not knowing what to expect as I explored Rapture for the first time, learning the best ways to deal with Big Daddies and the overall survival aspect to the game. It did lose its shine after "the scene," as I was promised before getting the game, but it'd still be worth it for the first half. I'm not going to get my hopes up about Infinite capturing that feeling for me again, though that would be nothing short of amazing.

Also if I could experience the sheer innocence, fun and sense of discovery I had when I played Sly 2 for the first time...ahhhhhh, that'd be something, indeed.

Sigh. I just got out of an argument over my unpopular opinions, too.
I am a big Resident Evil fan. I loved Resident Evil 6. I loved the gameplay, the music was amazing and I(personally) love the way the story played out and how they all overlapped each other. Unlike other people who seem to think it's utter shite, I loved the gameplay mechanics and the controls were great, especially for the type of game Capcom has been shifting to with Resident Evil. Much like Dark Souls did, Resident Evil 6 provided me with 3 weeks worth of play, which is hard for me to find nowadays. I wouldn't mind playing it again for the first time, regardless that the game's only 2 and a half months old, almost.

Easily Skyrim, or even Fallout 3.

I wish I had a "forget me" button that allowed me to restart the game and experience everything for the first time.

Portal, Journey, the Mass Effect series, Bioshock, The Walking Dead, Half Life 2 and the episodes.

So basically, it's the same as asking me what my favourite games are.

Shadow of the Colossus

Final Fantasy IX
Journey
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
Fallout: New Vegas
Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee
Kingdom Hearts
Valkyria Chronicles

As Zhukov has said, it's pretty much asking me what my favorite games are, but in the form of another question.

Mass Effect 1.
I recently bought the trilogy, and just blasted my way through the first game in order to get to the 2nd and 3rd quicker. Turns out it's a much better experience if you actually invest in it, and really get to know your squad mates- there's a lot more intensity and emotion when their lives are at stake if you actually feel as though you know them. So therefore, I wish I could go back and play that game another time, except this time take my time with it.

Oblivion and Skyrim. There's just something about being thrown into these huge wonderful worlds while you know pretty much nothing about them.

Mass Effect, but only if I could somehow plant the idea in my head that the trilogy was tragically never finished, leaving only two games.

Honestly surprised that not a single soul has said this yet:

Minecraft

Being able to experience Minecraft again as a total noob would be awesome. The feel of the game when you first start, and the childlike curiosity you experience when you begin that first world... No other game has done that for me yet.
Also, I'd have to say Crash Bandicoot 3, Burnout 3: Takedown, Half-Life 2 and The Walking Dead. Those games are amazing, and I loved each one for different reasons.
