What games are honestly not worth it?

OK after skimming through the thread, I just want to ask how the hell an Australian can play games without having to worry about whether or not they can eat their next meal? - not only do your games start out at 100 dollars but it looks like they have hardly gone down in price. I can't even think of a game that is worth anything above 80 or 90, and those are usually "special editions" that come with a bunch of merchandise and posters.

Things like Gametap and Steam must be a Godsend. I bet old Blizzard games are still around 40 AUD down there.

Is there a reason why games cost so much down there? It's not like you guys have some serious inflation there or something, like with Japan and the "Yen" - an AUD is about the same as a USD (.95 cents or so)

Does it have anything to do with "Wages"? iirc that's why some countries have gas prices higher than the U.S. - smaller country and higher wages = "8.00 per liter" = no problem!

(Please forgive my ignorance, I know very little about Australia - except when it comes to military things, but even that is "lacking")

I would have to say most MMOs. They have no ending, no story, no point. You just level up and get bored, or skip the level up and get bored! They are fun for a while, but there is no point putting a time commitment into it, as you will just get more XP. Wow, XP!

Quite frankly I don't really think any games are worth full price. Obviously many will disagree but many games that are not massive games from big companies (Halo 3,MGS4,COD4) or unique breath of fresh air games (Portal, Boom Blox) really aren't worth it until there at least 33% less. Examples: Fight Night Round 3, Crackdown, COD3)

Meh, s'lright ElArab. See, in Australia, the price of games was cemented at $AU100 at around 2000, when the exchange rate between Australia and the US was about $AU1=$US.50, and people accepted it. Now, even when the exchange rate is nearly $1=$1, the retailers haven't adjusted it, what with the mindless people buying the games without realising they're being ripped off. In fact, they've raised the starting price of video games to $AU110. The government still thinks video games are for babies, and most of the Australian population doesn't really care.

And don't get me started on our net connections. Things like Steam and Gametap are great for those who have connections that can handle the download of 9Gb... I get capped at 12Gb (speed of 1.5mb/s), and I'm not using nearly all my download for a month just for a game. It's just not financially a good idea for me, since not only do I rely on my net, but I've got other family members who need it not lagging (like it is now).

We Aussies really do have the short end of the sticks, and it fucking sucks. Oh, and I saw the Starcraft Battlechest yesterday (it's got Starcraft, Brood War and somethng else I can't quite remember): $AU50.

My knee-jerk response was: Shaq-fu, however I'm not really up to date with modern gaming and overall quality, I think everyone has different tastes so it is really up to the buyer.

EDIT: By modern gaming I mean I don't own any current Gen systems.

Ummm, my personal opinion is that, Halo 1-3 are not worth the buy, same with GTA 4
