Before my folks bought a Genesis for my brother's birthday, we were hogging our dad's Commodore 64 to play Jumpman, lightcycles, Master of the Lamp, and Star Wars Arcade.

Boy, seeing some of the games listed by you good folks makes me feel really, really old.

I'm a bit older, my first games were on the Atari 2600. I had E.T. ( worst game ever, yes, I know), Pitfall, Adventure ( god I loved that one), and some home-brew math games my father wrote.

But the games I grew up on where mostly the old sierra games, the ones with the type interface, it's how I learned english.

Heart of Darkness (IMPOSSIBLE when you're 5 or 6) and Tomb Raider 3 are my earliest recollections.

My Dad also used to let me mess with games like Thief and Deus Ex a little when they came out, obviously I wasn't very good at around 7 years old.

Jumpman & Jumpman Jr. were two of the finest C64 games ever made! I could beat "Robots II" in Jumpman at speed level 1 without dying. Took some practice though.

Ever play Space Taxi?
I still have fond memories of hearing my dad playing the game, pounding the desk or slapping the arms of his chair to the level complete music!

I'm afraid I don't recall Space Taxi? How did that one play?

Super Mario Bros., Duck Hunt, and other NES classics. Also early computer games like Cross Country Canada, The Oregon Trail, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego, & Number Munchers. God, I loved Number Munchers.

Commodore 64: Wizard of Wor, Ghostbusters, Zaxxon, Gorf, Bruce Lee, Galaxian, I could go on and on.. My dad (sorry, SANTA) got us a Commodore 64 for christmas in 1985 with a box load of disks packed with copied games. It was a life-changing experience.

the original duke nukem, with the 10000-point balloons and a random ass story hat made no sense.

scorched earth (someone posted online using javascript. look it up, it's fun as hell)

jill of the jungle.

wolfenstein 3-d on pc (not the edited snes cart).

all these games have one thing in common: they all run on DOS
