I'd like to see far cry made AGAIN but this time without Uwe Boll directing it. I actually want to see his upcoming Guitar Hero movie, it has GOT to suck in amazing ways.

If you could keep george lucas's grubby little hands off of it the knights of the old republic series might have entertainment value.

Portal. Portal. Portal. PORTAL. MAKE A PORTAL MOVIE. DAMMIT. MAKE IT. but make it good, and right.

I've learned two things about games and movies (Particularly movies)
1. Uwe Boll shoulden't be anywhere near them (EITHER OF THEM.)
2. They rarely ever work.

I don't want to thread jack here, but scientists in New York have recently discovered new, more extreme levels of hate by using extract of Uwe Boll and a copy of Legend of Zelda and mixing the two in front of an audience of 30 year old video game fanatics.

/end threadjack

I want a Viva Pinata movie Dammit!
Get Ed Norton to be Seedos and Natalie Portman to be Leafos!

Directed by Quentin Tarentino because he is the only man who can really bring to screen all the gore that smashing a pinata creates.

I wanna add one. I'd like to see a movie of Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from butcher bay.

It would be exactly right, and it would fill in the gaps for the movie goer, and of course it would make at least enough money to pay for itself and buy a cheeseburger, even though the previous pitch black sequel wasn't as popular. Especially because the best part of pitch black was riddick doing riddick things, and butcher bay was exclusively riddick things.

Maybe assassins creed.

and mirrors edge, yeh I know the game wasn't that good but it had a great original idea, the corrupt government watching everything, the communications solution being traceur/traceuse messengers delivering their cargo with awesome parkour style, add some complications, a plot twist, awesome chase scenes and it would be a great movie.

The Longest Journey.. Not into a movie, but a Mini series.

And because it would probably be interesting and set in the 1920s... Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner.

None. Ever.

Experience has taught me better than to think otherwise.

Although assuming it would actually be a good movie, there's too many to list.

The problem with making video game movies is very similar to making movies based off of books. There is usually too much information to do the subject matter "right". To do most games that would be worthy of making a movie would require someone to do a mini-series and in general nobody has been interested in trying that. Probably due to the more limited returns (relying on commercials and DVD releases rather than a direct box-office cash to your pocket method).

In genereal it's usually only short stories and very short books (like a lot of Phillip K Dick's stuff) that have resuted in movies that are more or less loyal to the source material.

That said most of the suggestions seem like they would wind up with deritive shoot 'em up movies that might have passed as direct to video movies in the eighties. That is to say that your average shooter has minimal plot behind it and what is there is meant to be narrated not focused on.

Ironically if I had to pick a game with an unusual plot that could be done as a movie or mini series I'd probably pick "The World Ends With You".

Bioshock would simply turn into a mindless political rant, the cooler points of it's specific story not translating well into the cinema (having been intended for the medium of a video game).

I could sort of see Portal, but the problem is that the fun of the premise comes from solving the rooms yourself. Seeing someone else do it in a movie wouldn't be that much fun, and when you get down to it there isn't much of a storyline except navigating those rooms, taking on GlaDOS and escaping. They would have to expand things dramatically.

Ultimatly I'd imagine they would wind up producing something similar to the "Cube" trilogy which could be entertaining, but wouldn't really fit quite what one expects from "portal".

The "Cube" movies are cult classics to begin with, and aren't really a recipe for mainstream success.
