Homeworld 3 or a new lemmings

Well actually both would be good. Many hours using lemmings to block all the exits and then blowing them up muhahahahaha

oops must remember to be polite to the little fellas.

-Turn based strategy (like Civ)
-Platforming, I just watched Angry Video Game Nerd's review of the Castlevania series, how the hell did I miss out on that series?! Castlevania IV looked so goddamn sweet.

Turn-Based Squad Tactics!

There aren't too many turn-based games anymore to begin with, and those that do get made are either large-scale like Total War or Civilization, or Japanese SRPG style like Final Fantasy Tactics or Disgaea.

What happened to awesome tactical games like X-COM, Jagged Alliance, and Silent Storm?

Both of these.

Anyone remember Golden Sun? That's what I'm talkin' bout!

A lot of "turn-based" style RPGs are losing their charm with unnecessary complexity, what with their "turn-based strategy but real-time combat"(*cough* RTS *cough*) - case in point, DA:O. Don't get me wrong, I love that game for what it is, but I really hope that this new style (which has also been in recent FF games) doesn't eclipse the classic turn-based goodness I know and love.

I know Pokemon games are still being churned out, but that's just one series that's exhausting itself out.

Also, Jak & Daxter is (not was, IS) the best platformer EVER...gimme more. I want MORE!

Golden Sun was pretty cool, but that's so totally not what I'm talking about. Golden Sun is just a jRPG, I'm talking about <url=http://i436.photobucket.com/albums/qq84/DurrHurr/stuff.jpg>stuff <url=http://i436.photobucket.com/albums/qq84/DurrHurr/like.jpg>like <url=http://i436.photobucket.com/albums/qq84/DurrHurr/this.jpg>this.

X-com had 3 pretty nice sequels/remakes in the last years.

Intergalactic management games. Like Pax Imperia 2: Eminent Domain. That game was the bomb. You could design your own ships, manage planetary budgets, you could even design your own race. That game was so amazing. Imagine what it can be like with current age graphics.

RTSS! (Real Time Strategy Shooters) There are not enough games that are RTS but in first person mode, where you can walk around on the battlefield itself. Battlezone is the only RTSS game I know of. One thing I would like to see is a Command&Conquer game from the Renegade era with RTSS instead of just FPS.

Hmm. Decently varied and insane vehicular combat a la Twisted Metal. That'd be fun. And I mean Twisted Metal 2 since while Black was awesome I thought it was a bit too serious. I mean I want my demonic scourge, my evil ice cream clown, my grim reaper and my other colourful cast of characters. I mean Black's cast of insane asylum residents were interesting but bring back the fun of the past ones. I want to laugh again at the characters.

And I agree with the idea of cheat codes. Those were awesome. Bring those back for sure (optional for sure).

Yes, Golden Sun was a f****** awesome series and I loved it's story. We also need more games like Fire Emblem. I loved those games. It's the most perfect strategy game series I've played.

Also, while Jak & Daxter is awesome, I'm still torn between it and Ratchet & Clank.

Side scrolling shoot 'em ups. I miss the days of R-Type and Contra.
These.

Can we make an addendum to this thread, genres you'd like to see disappear, never to come back? If so: MMO-anythings.

X-COM, please come back :(

( and by that I mean Enemy Unknown / UFO Defence and Terror From the Deep with their complexity and micromanagement, not the crappy Afterlight and such that don't even deserve the X-COM name ).
