Who in the hell still rents from a brick and mortar store? Get with the times, Grandpa. Gamefly isn't perfect, but you can keep games for as long as you want, they have a much bigger selection, and it's relatively cheap.

Conveniently for me, the only games I really enjoy are RPGs/adventure games, sports games, and platformers. There are others that come in and surprise me from now on. But these genres typically have great replay value or have a long single-player. I don't buy the new sports game every year (unlike one friend of mine who has NCAA basketball and football for every year 2006-now, yikes!), but will maybe rent the next baseball game (not The Bigs, which is way too over-the-top for me) that comes out. 2K Sports has been butchering their baseball games with glitches and bad gameplay for the last four years and have lost my trust completely. Other than that, my sports games don't get old for me.

I don't even remember the last game I rented, if I have at all. Darn you, 2K Sports.

I said it was meh. Basically your spelling on occasion was off and that kinda irritates me if you're going to write articles. And you for some reason liked AC1 but hated AC2? That doesn't compute for me.

This whole thing doesn't make a lot of sense to me. You run around renting games you know are going to suck (WET, Rogue Warrior) but avoid excellent titles (Bioshock) because you lack self-control? Maybe you shouldn't be playing games so much then.

Yeah, the spelling was a bit off because I tried to cram a review and this into one day because I was way off schedule. But I'll give it more editing next time around. As for AC; well I we can just toss that up to personal taste, I know more than a couple of guys that would agree with me on that. Basically, Assassins Creed 2 was more of a chore to play. The Plot wasn't all that great, the game used some of the most obscene lengthening tricks I've ever seen, and a couple more complaints that I'm to tired to air out.

As for the last bit, its hard to explain. It because I want to buy BioShock later, when I have cash, so I have to avoid renting it. Thus it leads to me renting some crappier games which I have almost no interest in, just because I need something to play. And to be fair, I rented Rogue Warrior on the first day it came out (which should have been a huge hint), so in my defense I didn't know it would be all that sucky. :p

And hopefully I didn't sound too defensive in this post, I appreciate the criticism; it helps me grow. :)

Don't Gamefly. While it does what it's supposed to they never have new titles in when you want to play them. Case in point: I used to be with them when CoD4 first came out, I had to wait 2 months before there was a copy available for me and by then I had got the money together to buy it. It's just a waste of time, trust me.

Bah.... I thought this was a competition where I could win a goat.

You don't realise how badly I need a goat right now...
True story: I have won a goat at a competition.

Well technically it was a raffle.

I called him Goaty.... I was little and we kept outside of the house (This is in Greece). Then one day without my knowledge my dad slaughtered him (used to be a butcher) and we ate him. I never found out for years.

Well I have found a way to get games for as long as you want them without paying a cent.

Find your closest spoilt friend who also owns the same console as you and drop massive hints on what game would be best for them to get next (on their parents money) then borrow it from them once they are bored with it (which shouldn't take long in the case of most spoilt children).

Gamefly will not stop you from buying games. That much I can guarantee. I have the service, and although shipping times are down to 2-3 days, it's still damn near impossible to time returns with new releases. Right now I'm extremely tempted to buy Bioshock 2 since I just sent back a game and they shipped me Guitar Hero 5 (fifth game down on my queue). I don't mind because I did want to get around to playing it eventually, but it will kill me running through GH5 knowing Bioshock 2 is out there mocking me.

Gamefly is the best service you can have as a gamer by far, but some games are just too epic to wait past midnight on release day. :)
Basically what you said.

Gamefly is amazing. I hate the fact that the gameQ is checking stock at ALL facilities, even the 9 that don't ship to you so it is really wrong. But overall I've saved lots of money and played way more games than I would have otherwise :).

I haven't played 2, but how anything could be more of a chore than 1 is beyond my abilities to comprehend! :p

Meh, there the story didn't drive me enough. It felt like a chore to play because there was no goal I was pushing too. I didn't care what happened in the story, so everything else just felt like it was getting in my way of being done with it. Like collecting codex pages, random fights, and of course the silliest and unfun side missions.

I avoid renting nowadays. I was raised where I could visit my grandmother who still has her collection of NES games and several NES consoles.

I want to be able to show my grand-kids what games where like in my youth and how much things have changed in 50 years.

Since I usually end up buying the good games renting means paying $70.00+ for a game simply because I was being indecisive.

When I was younger, I rented a game every single weekend (for my SNES) with a 2-for-1 as my parents would pick up a movie. But for the last, oh I don't know - 10 years or so, rental stores have stopped doing 2-for-1. I miss that. Anyway, I do like renting but prior to buying a PS3 slim when it came out, I was a PC gamer and therefore no rentals (plus, who needs other games when you're a WoWhead?). So, when I got my PS3 I rented a couple games - batman: AA and Dead Space, both of which I was reluctant to return but at the same time I had beat the games and therefore don't really need to purchase them, even tho with Dead Space at least I'd like to keep playing for platinum because it's just such a great game. Luckily it's only $20 now so maybe I'll get it.

I went to the rental store the other day tho, and honestly there was nothing I cared to play. The selection is pretty limited they have maybe 1 copy of decent and crappy games, and then 5-6 copies of the most popular games like Uncharted 2 and MW2 but I purchase these good games so it doesn't do anything for me.

I love my Gamefly, now that I know how to manipulate it to get what I want.

EX- have no game out when a game you want launches, and you'll usually get it sent on release day. And the prices! THE PRICES! I got Marvel UA 2 for $16! And Mass Effect 2 (with Cerberus Network card in box) for $45!

WET was a great rental. I loved it, beat it, sent it back.

Pimppeter2 owns these forums.

I usually only buy games if they either have good multiplayer, or are those 40 hour RPGs that you don't want to rush through. Gamefly is great, especially if you're like me and college is making you pinch pennies.
One word; Neonbob.

OT: I would be a renter, if any place near me rented out PS3 game. It's really annoying, the only games they have are like racing games. I dislike racing games.

I think that I would rent if there was somewhere near me that did rentals. As it is I tend to only buy games that have gone down in price. There are a lot of games at the moment that I badly want to play but don't expect to like enough to want to keep, renting would be a way of getting around this problem for me. :(
