The removal of just one species from an ecosystem can plunge the environment into chaos.

So despite what you might think about humans, imagine what would happen if we suddenly disappeared.

School bus I take it? Kids will be kids. Same as always.
I still believe selective culling of the little *darlings* is necessary.

If he was hurt, I would not call you gay for helping him up. But if he randomly just tripped and was perfectly fine, then it might be a bit much to get out of your seat and help him up.

Well, today I was on the bus and a guy that tried to get up tripped as the bus started moving, and the guy in across from me (sideways seating) said "haha f**king nice) and I was kinda irritated by that, (I was helping the guy who tripped back up which will lead to what he said next) so anyway I get back in my seat after I helped the guy, and what do you know the guy across frfom me calls me gay, for helping someone up, what happened to maturity, also a while back a kid who badmouthed others was about to get his ass kicked (by someone clearly much stronger) so I tried and succeeded at breaking up a fight nobody else tried to (there were onlookers that I had seen breaking up fights between other people before and it should be noted I didnt like this badmouthing kid either, but to get his ass kicked in a fight against someone clearly stronger, thats unfair) but people all stared at me with that "what the fuck?" look on their faces, It saddens me, even if you dont like/know someone shouldnt you help them in need? I remember when I was young I was always told to "smarten up" or "act more mature" and now that I am in the point of my life where I should be acting mature, it seems I am shunned for it, even by those who TOLD me to act more mature, I dont get people, what happened to maturity?

EDIT: I guess it should be noted, the fight was already well into it and the kid was hurt enough, no need to kick a guy while hes down, I'm sure he learned his lesson considering since then the kid has toned down dramaticaly
That's not maturity, that's common curticy, and curticy's been dead for a long time. It's a dog-eat-dog world out their, and people gotta think for themselves and only themselves. Showing compassion for your fellow human beings simply means you're weak.

Courtesy is part of maturity, maturity is generalizing it all
and relying on yourself is just stupid, not strong
friends make you strong (cheesy I know but true)
If you rely on yourself it's gunna be a lonely life my friend

Society doesn't require us to be mature, we can get jobs and breed without actually being mature. I'd have to agree with this starting a long time ago (someone said about the 1920's) and as generations have passed "children" have been raising children, Props for the bus situation, seems thing like compassion have been dying out as well.

I feel that maturity is some thing that must actively be sought after and like most things in life it requires effort but adds value to life.

We are here for nourishment not punishment

Even I'm not really sure what Kraken is trying to get at, but I'd say it's best not to let immature pricks get to you, even though it's pretty hard when you're surrounded by them.

I can't say I've ever really encountered immaturity like that since high school, so if that's where you're at, you have my sympathies.

Mostly everything would return to normal. No environment poisoning, no hunting. Lots of animals and plants will survive and if it wasnt for us many would still exist

Things would not return to normal as Earth without humans is not normal. There is no such thing as a normal Earth because the environment has always been changing. It never remains the same.

Also you should keep in mind that the majority of species that have gone extinct are not due to human intervention. Many species are found, but they shortly go extinct afterward because they were genetically inferior. Also it's worth mentioning the humans cultivate a large number of plant species that would not be nearly as abundant if it wasn't for the human agricultural system.

Also I have no idea why you said there would be no hunting. Animals do that all the time.

Maturity, or at least in the form you're describing, is like most ideas; it's relative. There is always a societal shift from generation to generation, and that speaks nothing of how individuals conceive the idea.
Some people might say people who enjoy UFC or Spike TV are immature, while the people who are for those things might say that those activities are an outlet for them to vent their perennial manly instincts.
You're letting a few childish instances cloud your entire opinion of peoples "maturity". I promise you, things are no different now then they've ever been in terms of that concept.

I think it went the same place reading the thread before opening your mouth went.
The kid was already beat up, if you think someone deserves to be completely beaten to a pulp, possibly having bones broken, for mouthing off, then you are an asshole, easy as that.
I don't know about people being more or less mature, there are plenty of mature people and plenty of immature, the immature stand out more.
People are definitely less willing to help others though. So regardless of if it is mature or not, good work on being a decent person and helping people when they need it.

Was it like a school bus or a city bus? If it was a school bus then blame it on just being an immature child. If it was a city bus then you should have socked that asshole right in the mouth as you were getting off. If a complete stranger called me gay for helping someone I would have at least said something.... AT LEAST!

PS good for you helping someone, that happens so rarely these days.
