To me,when you die,you resurrect into a human or animal. It could not be proved because we would lose all memories of the life of before.
But if you have no memories of your previous life, how can you be so sure it's your life that gets reincarnated. And not just a new life?

Memories and personality is what makes you; you. Getting reincarnated into a new body with a whole new personality and memory wiped clean is the same idea of just death. Your old self just stops to be, the body rots.

The only difference with the "real Death" theory and reincarnation, is the soothing idea that you won't END, just recycled.

I believe that whatever you think happens when people die, happens when you die.

Weird, huh?
There was a theory that you enter a dream in your last moments. Since time when dreaming doesn't really go into account, I suppose that could make sense.

You'll die, and that won't be such a bad thing.
You weren't unhappy before you were born were you? I can't imagine being dead will be any different.

The idea of being reincarnated scares me to be honest. Going through life's bullshit over and over and over again like doing it once isn't enough, what's so good about that?

But, isn't that the nihilist way of thinking. Oh, what's the point? Oh right there isn't one, since, I'm just gonna get bored. Yeah, eternal peace may not be for everyone. That's why you have balance. So things don't tend to get trivial.

Then again some people are fine with dying being the end all. Thank you for opening my eyes. No, seriously, thank you. I'm just tired as all hell.
Perhaps it is nihilistic. personally I'd think it is realistic. There are so many people wasting their lives or happy with their respective misery because they believe that through their suffering they will get it better in the afterlife. if you die and there isn't an afterlife you will have wasted a life's worth of experiences for nothing.
In my opinion this is what you get. No second chances, no afterlife, make the most of it while you can, treat people how you wish to be treated, experience what you can, travel the world, visit other cultures, experiment. quite frankly if it doesn't hurt or harm anyone else do what ever you like. It is your life, your one and only shot at it. Stop hoping it will be better once you die, make it better now.

anyway that's my sermon done with I think. since you are tired I wish you a good night :)

Youtr organs shut down and your nervous system does too i.e. your conscientiousness shuts down. It's just a balls of white matter. There is no magical floating soul...

You die, you cease to exist, your corpse rots to nothing. If you think there's anything after death I think your grossly overestimating the relevance of your miniscule carbon-based lifeform to the universe.

I love the killcam, player stats and respawn ideas though - that would be cool!

Okay people, stop stating what you think as fact. Truth is you don't know, you only think you know.

Scientifically speaking the nutrients from your decaying carcass become one with the Earth and are used to make trees and other plants grow. So, from this perspective, we become the Earth. It's a rather spiritual one if you ask me, rather nicely backed up by science.

But personally, I have no idea. I have the mind of the scientist and with this there is no way to know without going through it; and there is no way to pass the knowledge on after. I want to find out, see what death is like. Stare it in the face and say 'You shall not pass!' before falling to the depths it may drag me to. It's something to look forward to it's a new path we face. In the words of Gandalf "End? No, it doesn't end here. Death is just a new path, a path everyone has to take."

The electrical energy in the brain that is "you" dissappers after about 5 minuttes, then the brain itself decompeses in a matter of minuttes because of the lack of oxygen.

Thats what happens.

congrats, you win the narrow minded prick award of 2010, i hope you thank god in your acceptance speech...

no but really, i am atheist, i would love to believe in something, i think it's a novel idea, especially reincarnation, but my mind works logically so whenever i look to a religion i find too many flaws to accept it. too many hiccups and fuck ups

Well I believe and hope nothing happens, since your brain dies, only bad thing about that is of course, that you can't say "HAHA" to all the religous people who was wrong... -.-

You might hallucinate for a bit before your brain kicks the bucket due to oxygen deprevation, after that you return to the state you were in in the 13+ billion years you were before you were born.

Might sound tedious at first glance but then again we wont have any perception or data-storage capabilities when the brain goes so we wont be able to notice.

I'm not narrow minded so don't be quick to call me a prick, sunshine.

I've looked at all the evidence and it tells me that an afterlife is highly unlikely. From my experience it's usually those religious types with the closed minds. amen.

1. it's a joke.
2. lol at the amen.

EDIT: oh, and i overall pretty much agree, when you approach religion logically, it falls apart, although i support many of the moral values it instills

Well, it's nearly impossible to comprehend death because we regard our conscience as indestructible and unique, when in truth, it's just a series of nerves and synapses linking the body to the brain.

We've always thought we were special, but in truth, we aren't. We're just another mammalian species who had enough brain juice in their noggins to figure out how to barbecue(actually barbecue is one of the key factors in our evolution which eventually led to our 'sentience')
