This one isn't all me, but it still applies...

Back when Gears of War first came out, there was some kind of problem with the mics of players who joined a match that was already in progress...they could hear everyone else, but no one could hear them. So, on one of my first times playing, I got dropped into a match with two other guys, zathanian and dryoda1969, and we were joined by AEROPOO later...and while AEROPOO and I could hear them, they of course couldn't hear us, so the two of them were talking during the match:

zathanian: "Hey yoda."
dryoda1969: "Yeah?"
zathanian: "I don't think they can hear us...hey guys, can you hear us?"
Me: "Yes!"
*no response...so I shoot at zathanian with my pistol instead*
zathanian: "Hey, does that mean yes? Shoot me if you can hear me!"
*we both shoot him*

This led to what I like to call Gears of War Charades. For a full minute or two at the start of every round, we would hang out in the base while zathanian asked us questions, and we would use in-game actions to signify the responses. For instance, when he asked us our ages, one chainsaw rev would signify every ten years, and one pistol shot would equal one year.

Now, this is a cool story and all, but why is this my proudest gaming moment?

WE DID NOT LOSE A ROUND THE ENTIRE TIME.

Even the one time someone on the other team finally found us screwing around in the base, lobbed a grenade straight at AEROPOO's feet, and blew him to bits right in front of us, we came out of that base and absolutely slaughtered the other team. EVERY SINGLE TIME.

I have never had a better experience with a game.

TL;DR version: Played Gears of War Charades and won every round.

I am not sure it is fair to have only one proudest moment. After all, some moments that I was intensely proud of in the past would be effortless for me to replicate nowadays. Still, a recent moment that made me feel real good was when my best friend and I won our first 2V2 match of StarCraft II.

We went up against the same guys twice in a row. I played as Protoss, my mate played as Terran. Our enemies played as Protoss. In both games, they Photon Cannon rushed us, something we had no real idea how to encounter. They won the first game. In the second game we fought off their initial rushes. I rushed out Photon Cannons faster to defend my base, and my friend simply relocated. We settled into a long siege, with our opponents throwing down Cannons over the map by the dozen, and eventually taking out all my mining capabilities. My friend supported both of our armies with his economy. We eventually took out their initial bases with a combination of Immortals and Marines. But they relocated, and walled themselves off with yet more Cannons. After a fifty two minute siege, we managed to break through their defences and finished off their final base.

This would now doubt have been an effortless match for more experienced players. But for my mate and I, it was an exhilarating triumph against stacked odds.
It's satisfying to team up and storm down an opponent...

It's even MORE satisfying to team up and struggle EPIC-STYLE and take down an opponent! Nice work.

I got past the bike part on Battletoads. Granted, it was on an emulator but I still did it without any cheats.

The 'Search' feature revealed to me curiously that there has been a topic like this once (and ONLY once) per year for the past several... so I figured, why break tradition?

What has been your Proudest moment in Gaming so-far?

Was it an achievement you broke your back to get?

Was it a high-score you finally got to beat a rival sibling?

Was it getting JUST the right camera-angle with Princess Peach?

Spill the beans!

(Personally - mine was the first time I beat another human being in a Starcraft 2 multiplayer battle. Not much to write home about, but I'm horrible at RTS against real people - so it was a big step forward for me!)

(As a runner up - seeing myself drawn as the Spy was also awesome. [http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2010/151/9/9/Gentlemen______by_Blazbaros.png])
There's many that i could brag about but i prefer looking forward to the next challenge.

Thanks :), I always go achievement hunting as well. But unfortunately had to start a new account, so I now have a silly rule that I will get at least 500G for one game before moving on to the next :)

But yeah, that was definitely the hardest achievement I have ever done.
It's a pity there's no 'Gamerscore' on Steam... I'd Love that.
I really want to see that implemented... *sigh* Only my friends know when I get the cool achievement. I have a habit of getting the (apparently) difficult ones first lol. My first TF2 one ever was Rasputin. Get shot, burned, 'sploded in one life... or something.
As for proudest moment. First time I topped the leaderboards in TF2 was pretty damn satisfying. it's still a rare moment, what with me only having owned it for a few months. That wasn't a pushover match either. Getting the achievement in HL2 Ep 1 for firing just one bullet (I like achievements).
Beating Klonoa. Way back on Playstation. Possibly the first game I remember beating. It's a little hazy if it was Spyro or Klonoa first. I miss those games. have to find them somewhere.
But yeah, that boss was really hard (or I just sucked, what with my childish and unhoned reflexes ).

Clocking Final Fantasy X attaining literally everything and mastering all spells, it made the final boss fights a walkover.

Completing The path of the Master Ninja on Ninja Gaiden 2 using just the Dragon Sword, i wont lie it took the fun out the whole game for me lol

Seeing my mate complete Winter Olympics on an Amstrad - the giant slalom had been the final hurdle for him for over 25 years and finally, heroically, earlier this year, he achieved his goal.

the time I killed the entire opposing side in Counter Strike with my knife and a flash bang. Just shows what you can accomplish if you haven't been working for 3 months.

Recently: In Uncharted 2 multiplayer 5 on 5 death match, I received a "Connect Four" medal, which is killing 4 opponents in rapid succession. It's hard to do that because you rarely find more than 2 of the other team in one spot at any given time. I had the shot gun and run and gunned all these guys that happened to be in pretty much a straight line. I got about 6 other medals in that span of about 10 seconds. This also happened not even a minute and 30 seconds into the start of the match.

Also got a "wipe them out" in a 3 on 3, which is taking out the whole other team out in rapid succession. I did that one mostly with grenades...pretty awesome.

Running from my last class of the day to pick up my pre-order of "Shadow of the Colossus", then staying up all night to beat it in about 13 hours. The most beautiful 13hrs. :)

Well there's nothing wrong with that either - but you know as well as I do that there's something milling around in your brain you know you enjoyed most.

Sadly I never got the chance to do EP 1 achievements BECAUSE they don't exist on Steam.

Halo on legendary with my friend.

I still remember how he was throwing tantrums because we just couldn't beat the timer. Again and again we threw ourselves at the gauntlet and for two days we battled against the odds and then, one fine sunday morning, BAM! We managed to get there. And we saw the legendary ending.

Haven't really been challenged by anything memorable since.
God I miss playing Halo on Legendary with my mates... that last mad-warthog-dash was ten kinds of epic, especially with THAT music in the background!

One of mine was playing Point Of Existence 2 (mod for Battlefield 2).
I can't remember the name of the map but it was in a forested area and my squad were assaulting a hut and getting massacred. I spawned in, managed to sneak around the side and take out a couple of people on MGs then managed to sneak into the hut without being noticed and capture the base. None of my squad noticed me doing this and I wasn't on mic so couldn't tell them. They were on mic saying "What the hell, how did we get it?!" Then I just stood up and looked out of the window at them. Their reactions cheered me up because I was in a horrible mood that day.

There have been a few similar times (almost all on Battlefield games) but that is the most memorable for me.

Doing any kind of super-sneaky commando-capture is always fun, regardless of the game... Spy-caps in TF2 especially.
