The title pretty much gives away the question :p

It's almost an entire year ago since I joined the site for teh lulz(Yep, that's true). In that year, I've stopped growing, broke my heart twice, got addicted to DnB, failed my first year on highschool and last but not least, I met a good companion from over The Channel(You rock dude! *High Fivez*).

These are of course just the highlights, but it gives an idea.

So now it's your turn: What has changed since you joined the Escapist?

I've gained more confidence in my writing skills (through the User Reviews), realized that this site has replaced almost my entire anemic social life, and doubled the number of visual novels I have lined up to play.

Sorry, but I can't really ride the same boat here. I've joined roughly some weeks ago and my live is pretty boring, actually.

I've been evicted from an apartment, moved to a strange new city, spiraled $1,000 further into debt, lost 2 jobs, my dog passed away, my best friend became a father though I still haven't seen his kid yet, and I'm happier than I have been in years!

On this site? Or in reality?
For reality...Um...I almost flunked out of school for stupid reasons, I kept my girlfriend with minor hiccups, and I had to replace my hard drive. Yeah. I have a really boring life :D

On the site, some people got banned, we got some new forum sections, new features, and I met some interesting new people who I enjoy talking with.
That's about it, really.

well... on this site, they rearranged the page layout...
In real life... Hmmm... too much to state.
I met my master for the first time. Now I serve her and her altruistic duty.
oh, and I watched some good animes, and read some good books/other pieces of writing, thanks to the people on this site.
That is all I shall say for now.

In the six months I've been here, IRL I've passed my driving test and been trying to get a job. And failing, in case you didn't realise. Also, I'm panicking a bit as to where I'm gonna find £2,000 from for my car insurance.

Here, I've seen people get banned, users get attacked over their post counts, trolls getting worse at what they are trying to do, making plans to meet fellow users here in the summer and made some good friends.

So, apart from the car insurance thing, my life has got more interesting and calmer, really.

Less Max. Not that bad.
I'd second that.
No offense.
OT: Well, on these forums - nothing much.
In my life - I've developed a severe case of paranoia, my best friend left my school and I started writing reviews again.
Not that bad, is it?

in the time that i was on The Escapist i: got an internship where i may design/program my own games for money, got addicted to Drum n Bass and Mike Oldfield music, fallen in love(big time), finally completed my online portfolio and i got convinced of the fact that Hayley Williams is the most beautiful+talented girl on this planet.

Hahaha damn. The most malicious but hilariously true statement I've read all day. :D

Nothings changed really. I'm still here, being the spanner.

Some high profile people got banned. The Necroswanson (think that's how you spell it) was the first to go, but he was kind of obnoxious. Second was Max, who could be bad at times, but tollerable during others.

Also, I saw the rise of Furburt, and all his Bruce Campbell-loving wackyness.

I've seen a lot of other new things come to the site, such as the user groups and LRR among others.

Also, I feel that I've changed, becoming less of a fanboy towards the giant black monolith that is the PS3.

All in all, I think it's been a pretty good year.

The bans system changed. Banned used to be anything from 24hours to permanent. Now it's Proby, Suspended or Banned, also, the mods have got noticably less forgiving towards people being jerks all the time.

Videogame! Videogame! Thea-tre!
Died a death, great idea, but the execution lacked something. Crying shame that, it could have been brilliant.

Unforgotten Realms came and went.
DoomsDay Arcade, it'll be back, I can see no other possible outcome.
It got a theme tune, I can't believe they gave it a them tune...

Many, many users vanished or banned, mostly banned. Although besides Eggo and Mobius I dun really miss any, maybe arguing with Reaper, but there's plenty more argumentative souls on the internet. Some very sad things happened.
Root still likes Dr Who.

Politics got it's own section (and the rest of us breathed a huge sigh of relief).
Halo threads went from everyday to not so often, got replaced by Call of Duty threads.

Red Guard went from two people to... more than that.

Editors changed.

Community interaction sky rocketed.

March Mayhem (and I don't miss that).

Dunno what else, in my life little has changed, still careering through my twenties like a faulty exocet. Wahey!

I got dreadlocks, started wearing platform boots, my grandpa died, I have moved, I no longer have any pets, I've made some new friends, made some new enemies, my OCD has grown worse, have had some ups and downs with my best friend, had my heart broken, gone through depression, have gotten into songwriting, and have been busting my ass practicing for my appliance test to high school. 2009 was overall a bad year for me.
