America gave the world Coca-Cola.

You're welcome, world.
Coca-Cola is wretched shit, although you made up for it with Dr.Pepper!

OT: IKEA, hot-babes and failed Multi-culturalism! We're awesome like that!

Russia saved Europe from the Tatar invasion (by taking one for the team for a few hundred years)
Russia saved Europe in 1812 (except you France)
Saved again in 1945 (Don't pretend the US did it, Berlin was taken by the USSR.

And tons of hot women...
I'm not even American when I say this (Australian) but I think you misrepresent the situation in 1945 a little bit. Not that I'm not saying Russia involvement wasn't bigger or more significant than the US's but the war was won when the US joined in because they provided the shear weight numbers that ended the war.
Also A slight little aside completely off topic but I heard that in Russia they teach America faked the moon landings. Is that true?
Dude... You must've grown up in the height of the Cold War or something...

The turning point of the war was between 23 August 1942 and 2 February 1943 in the battle of Stalingrad. When the Germans, who till then were steadily advancing through Russia, were set running out by the counteroffensive. After that it was about pushing the Germans back to Berlin...
And the US joined in... 1944? And may I add, only to get the spoils of war. Fact.
Also you might not even know, that after USSR took Berlin, THEY TURNED AROUND and went to help the US fight Japan (the Manchurian campaign)...
Not to sound like a jerk, but go read a damn history book. Preferrably written by Germans about the war. The US really propagandized WWII...

Moon landing.
Gagarin was first in space. So space is a big deal for Russia. We usually laugh off the "fake moon landing theories" in favor of "Humanity conquering space"
Ironically I saw a documentary where Cosmonauts were defending the Astronauts and clarifying that the moon landing did take place.
Yes. I now realize how wrong I was with my statement about world war 2 (I just spent the last hour or so reading a short world war 2 history book) and apologize for sounding like a douche. As for the moon landings thing I had merely heard it from some one else. I merely wanted to find out how much truth was in that statement.
And again I would like to apologize for how much of a douche I must sound like.

South Africa - Open Heart Surgery, Charleze Theron, J.R.R Tolkien, some kind of insane cannon in the 70s, some kind of insane helicopter, CAT Scans, oil from coal, Kreepy Krauly (those swimming pool things).

Recently we're building two "strongest telescopes in the world", I can't remember what they're called but SCIENCE!!! and all that.

A debatable contribution was the war in Angola against the communists.
Damnit, Ninja'd on those, and we actually have quite a good telescope history with the South African Large telescope and the small array that we are going to start upgrading.

We also have Nelson Mandela.
And wine.
And most of the world's gold and a large chunk of its diamonds.
And we have the most hilarious politicians in the world... you bloody agents... *cookie if you get the slightly butchered quote*.

UK, specifically England, so quite a lot of inventions but I'll stick to soem mroe gaming related ones, the chemical used in LCD screens were discovered and researched in England, actually in my hometown. We also started the Tomb Raider series (remember when it was good) and I believe even Grand Theft Auto had it's origins here

The Celsius scale, the safety match, dynamite, the adjustable spanner, three-point safety-belt, the spherical bearing, Tetra Pak, a predecessor of the computer mouse, the gamma knife and the classification system designed by Carl Linnaeus. That's just the main stuff, if we go into weapons there's a whole lot more, and humanitarian stuff even more.
