Australia gave the world preferential voting, and WiFi. And the Peach Melba.

EDIT: And a great many innovations in farming, solar power, irrigation, and salinity management. Also, the cochlear implant, spray-on artificial skin, the notepad, the electronic pacemaker, the refrigerator, the electric drill, the black box flight recorder, and lots more [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Australian_inventions]. We have been busy, haven't we?
According to wikipedia, Australia even made the world's first powered manned flight in 1894, nearly a decade before the Wright brothers.

Quite simply, we rock.

We make Rugby worth watching (and are nice enough to choke at every Rugby world cup since the 1999 one)

Oh and, as this probably has a lot of geeks, we also brought you Lord of the Rings and are working on the Hobbit.

Thats about it.

We gave you mammals that lay eggs, and a decent chunk of the world's most venomous creatures.
You're welcome.

South Africa - Open Heart Surgery, Charleze Theron, J.R.R Tolkien, some kind of insane cannon in the 70s, some kind of insane helicopter, CAT Scans, oil from coal, Kreepy Krauly (those swimming pool things).

Recently we're building two "strongest telescopes in the world", I can't remember what they're called but SCIENCE!!! and all that.

A debatable contribution was the war in Angola against the communists.

This has so many things wrong with it it's not even funny.

EDIT: That's assuming you're American, anyway. Your profile doesn't say.

Peter Jackson and Karl Urban come to mind first. Thanks to the former, we got Lord of the Rings and this. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfkHkdu5IEI] Thanks to the latter, we got a terrible Doom film...wait that's not a good thing >.>

Aside from the media, we also helped England expand her territories!

from what I know, us Argentinians gave the world Tango, the use of Finger Prints for tracking and the Bus

but that's all I know, I'm not really sure about it except for the tango part and I don't want to sound too pretentious

also, we had el Che Guevara, but I don't know if that counts

America's contribution to the world:

- Slayer, Anthrax, Metallica, Pantera, Megadeth, Death, Morbid Angel, Nevermore, Nile, Iced Earth, Aggaloch, Wolves in the Throne Room

- Robert E. Howard, Howard Phillips Lovecraft, Ray Bradbury, Stephen King, George R.R. Martin

Those are the things I shall note.

Coughcough. Ahem. The world's first feature film [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Story_of_the_Kelly_Gang] was, in fact, Australian.
