Ok, this could be a pretty long list.
Most recent, I saw Hancock last week. Awesome, funny, I want Hancock's superpowers. The ability to shove a man's head up another man's ass would be just the thing to fix up some of the problems in my city.
Before that, I'd seen Wall-E. Highly recommend it to anyone with one or more eyeballs and a brain, ears more or less optional. Wall-E is a good movie with a good message, yes it's propaganda, but it's GOOD propaganda. It's cute, funny, and intelligent. I also love the psychotic broken robots, especially Mo. PS, Eve's Hawt ; D
Wanted. Was good, very entertaining, but IMHO doesn't offer enough closure. Good film though, all the twists of a M.Knight Shamawhatever film, all the action/effects of a Michael Bay movie, but unlike either of those, also has a plot. Oh, and more nekkid Angelina Jolee (backside).
Kung Fu Panda, easily tied with Wall-E for best movie of the year so far (though Dark Knight will steal their thunder). The plot was a little weak, and the end moralistic message was predictable and hokey, but easily the funniest film this year. Definite upside was the voice talents of Angelina Jolee (no nekked this time), Dustin Hoffman, and Jack Black. I was surprised to find "Monkey" was actually Jackie Chan, they didn't give him enough speaking roles. Only "bad" side was Lucy Liu as "Viper". Liu is about as oriental sounding as Sean Connery, and I don't know if it was her lines or her voice, or the whole ball of wax, but didn't like her character/acting one bit.
Before Kung Fu Panda I'd seen a number of other films (I see at least 4 a month if there's decent ones out)... You Don't Mess With The Zohan, EPIC. Adam Sandler hasn't done a film this good since Happy Gilmore. The Other Boleyn Girl was actually damn good, for a "chick flick" I was able to actually sit through it and enjoy the movie instead of retching... And Natalie Portman was raped up the pooper, bonus points because her character was a *****. 10,000 BC hit the cheap theatre, it wasn't bad, more eye candy than plot. Saw Speed Racer in the cheap theatre, actually regret not seeing it in the good theatre. Was way better than expected, though some paint and body damage on the cars would have made it a lil more realistic. Also, it reminded me of how good an actor John Goodman is, and hope he gets some new films to do. ALSO also, more movies need chimpanzee actors.
Probably forgetting a couple dozen, but that's what I've seen in the last couple weeks.
