In a perfect world, sex and cuddling with a girl.
It's true. Cuddling is a million times better than any glass of warm milk, soft music, or happy thoughts.
Cuddling and happy thoughts tend to go hand-in-hand, don't they?
I meant happy thoughts alone. If you're sad and cuddling, you're not doing it right.

Mm, definitely. Nothing like cozy physical contact to help you drift off peacefully.

OT: Since cuddling is out of the question for me right now, I help myself sleep by counting my breaths and focusing on a mantra repeated over and over. The Litany Against Fear [http://alcoman.railfan.net/fear.html] seems to be the most helpful.
You changed your username. Confusion ensued!

There's consoling cuddling... worried cuddling...
You underestimate the versatility of cuddling!

But yes, it is pretty awesome.

This might sound odd... but I have the Zero Punctuation podcast on my iPod and I just turn it on the most recent one and play all of the videos. But I turn the brightness down so the light won't keep me awake.

I've tried everything.

I'm 30 and have had difficulty sleeping my entire life, in fact right now I'm just killing time at 2am, after a 2 hour sleep that I couldn't resume.

Insomnia sucks.

I give it time, and if it takes more than two hours, read for a little while after getting a cookie and some milk. For whatever reason, that makes it so much easier to sleep for me.

If I just lay there and think for a while, I usually fall asleep pretty quickly.

Distracting noise. I cant sleep when I think too much. So having the TV or music on and focusing on it helps greatly.
