A date with Rosie Palms beforehand always helps me, but I usually don't have sleep problems, so...yeah. Also, ensuring the temperature is right; maybe a bit cold, so that you wanna tuck yourself in under the covers. Then again, that's just what I've grown up with here in a country with parts above the polar circle and bordering to Russia, so..
Nothing. I would have said smoking, but I quit recently... 5t4r66y5t775ty9y8rt34fgvb (that was me banging my head on the keyboard, I am not taking this whole quitting thing very well)
I usually have trouble sleeping, I can almost never immediately turn my brain to the "off" setting. So to get to sleep I used to read, but that stopped working, now it's usually a bourbon nightcap. Anyone else have trouble getting to sleep? If so, what helps you?
I went through a stage where I had terrible trouble sleeping
I think it manly because my pattern was out of whack, I wasnt actaually doing anything during the day so it was late nights and late mornings
I found that I was able to get back into a cycle when actually having to go out and work, also cutting down on caffine helps
and reading

This may sound corny but my boyfriend. When he's with me I'm out in a few minutes even if I'm not that tired. Alone it takes me FOREVER to get to sleep.
Let see-
I don't play games if I'm sleeping soon since I read the game activity will keep your mind running longer.
Trying to feel like you are falling but in a good way.
Don't think at all.
Quietness since my ears are a bit sensitive.
Cup of green tea about an hour before settling down usually does it for me. Either that or a night of wild passionate sex puts me to sleep afterwards. But unfortunately, its usually the tea these days.
Sometimes I listen to some music. There's this Swedish band called Kent, they made a song called "The Sleep", sometimes I listen to that. Otherwise, well like I said, I have trouble falling a asleep.
-Turn off all my electrical appliances. (Yes, that includes my PC)
-Take a hot shower. (Mmmmm warmth)
-Get dry. (No, stay wet you fool, see how nice that is)
-Go to bed. (well duh)
-Toss and turn. (why. won't. I. fall. asleep)
-Get up, go to balcony. Smoke. (I'm not evil)
-Ponder the frailty of the mind, and why there aren't more nice people in the world. (Wish I culd turn of my brain)
-Get depressed. (For no apparent reason)
-Finish smoking. (Put out ciggaret)
-Turn on my PC. (This is getting stupid)
-Chat, lurk, post. (Which is contra-productive, I know, I know)
-Get a warm fuzzy feeling that everything is gonna be all right. (Some off you guy do that to me)
-Turn of PC. (Again)
-Go to bed. (and fall asleep. g'night)
Being in good shape. I used to be out of shape until I finished high school. And then afterwards I started training religiously in mixed martial arts. As the years have passed, I've found it easier and easier to fall asleep. And I used to have problems laying in bed for a good hour or two, trying to "think" myself to sleep.
I've also gotten into the habit of shutting off my computer about an hour or two before I want to sleep, so I don't end up sinking time into the escapist/tvtropes/cracked/wikipedia. To spend the time before going to bed, I usually bust out my DS for a quick session of Contra 4. When I start getting owned on parts that I normally wouldn't, that's when I know that I'm too tired to focus, and I hit the sack.
I like to put on Let's Play videos, or random funny videos like Zero Punctuation or Wizard People: Dear Reader. Of course, I set up my laptop to go into standby mode after about an hour or so, so they don't disrupt my sleep cycle after I've finally conked out (usually takes me about 15-20 minutes after I get comfortable.
