Personally like some I believe that the Battlefield series has a purer lineage than Call Of Duty, I've been a fan since the original Battlefield Vietnam, of course the high points of the series to date being prioritising the PC over consoles, which in turn provides a better experience for everyone if you start with the most powerful all round rig and scale down from there, doing it the other way around leads us to dreaded ports, the worst example of which being Saints Row 2 for PC. *Shudders at the memory*. Anyway I'm waffling a bit, but yes, what kept me coming back was the fanbase, particularly the PC crowd, don't get me wrong, I have a PS3 too, but Battlefield's main support up until Bad Company was from the PC gamers, most of which I found to be a mature, pleasant and well sported crowd. Of course you can meet some fairly nice chaps and lasses on Live and Psn, sadly, the consoles are riddled with what I call the 'screamers' and other such ilk. Were Battlefield to expand from it's comfortable and snug basket into the fairly bleak Call Of Duty territory, we would no doubt have wailing brats, cheaters, potty mouthed ragers and so forth all over quicker than Swine Flu. They are welcome to their Call Of Duty, I shall instead enjoy Battlefield for the fun it has brought to me for many years.
