What if you found out your partner had radical political views you disapproved of?

...does she look hot in a SS or USSR uniform?

But nah, I probably wouldn't have any meaningful relationship with anyone who I'd be unable to respect due to having values which were fundamentally clashing with my own.

i dunno i alreayd married my dream girl so if she just busted out some crazy politial views i'd probably just try to ignore it. as it stands, she's as anti-political as they come, and that suits me just fine.

Well, the thing is when you live in NRW, that isn't really the case. The whole "Most Muslims are tolerant and peaceful" thing? Absolute bloody bullshit. Take this from a guy who lived in the Turkish part of town for 2 years as a kid, went to school in part of a city that has the third highest crime rate in the whole state (and of course a shit load of immigrants) and who's mother works in the aforementioned Turkish part of town in daycare.

etc. etc.
Couldn't have anything to do with the fact that they're poor immigrants? Oh of course not, it's their faith that's the issue.
Um, where did I say that exactly?
Those first sentences where you clearly bring up their faith as though it's the issue?

...Because the discussion was about Muslims and ProNRW from the get go?
You're telling a story about impoverished immigrants and bringing up their faith as though it is somehow a relevant factor in their behaviour, as opposed to, say, the fact that their lives are most likely terrible. I think you might be backtracking.

Well, I'd break up right there I ain't banging a Nazi or right wing nut job. I'm pretty sure the British nazi party is the leading party of some part of england it could be Blackburn.
Nope, Blackburn is a Labour stronghold. They got a councillor their once, and the next council election everyone voted and made damn sure the guy lost his seat. They never had control though.

Sorry, I know its off topic, but I couldn't let that not be challenged, as a matter of local pride.

If you don't have a somewhat rough estimate of what your partner's political views are, you have failed the relationship.

Then they wouldn't be my significant other.

I'm very good at weeding that stuff out in normal conversation.

Depends. I'm a right wing type of guy but like both right wingers and the left are (hopefully) both seeking the same goal, to make as many people's lives as pleasant as possible. I would rather someone who was well enjoyable to be around but come election day voted for someone else out of the belief that they were the best choice then someone who voted for the same stuff I did but did it for reasons I felt to be unbecoming.

However there are certain veto issues. I can't see myself ever be really attached to someone who wasn't a Christian. I could respect them intellectually, but I don't think I could see a long term relationship being viable.

If I had a girlfriend and she had a radically different worldview to me, then we would not have been an item in the first place. However this is a thing I will have to deal with myself, I believe that communism is the best idea for a political regime.

I am not trolling!

Uh... separate from them, I guess. Possibly also slap myself or something, I mean how the hell did I manage to end up dating a Nazi / right-wing-extremist / other anyway!? You'd think that kind of thing would be pretty obvious.

Opinions (meaning political ones, not favourite colour) are one of the things it is completely fair and valid to judge people upon. Of course, that doesn't mean I wouldn't ever communicate with anyone that happens to have slightly different views to myself, in fact I love to debate this sort of thing, it's when their views go into the territory of being morally reprehensible rather than just wrong (in my mind) that I would take issue.

Elections are only once every 4 years here in America, and a girl gets her period EVERY MONTH. Do you really think that politics are my main concern?

Relax, I'm only kidding. (My sincerest apologies to anyone who may have actually been offended by that joke)

OT: It depends on how how "radically" I disapproved of them. If it's like the difference between Democrats and Republicans, then I could easily live with that. If she's, for example, a Nazi, or something similar, I would end the relationship immediately.
