I know, but I think it's popularity was waining at the time due to the producer's dislike of the show and the subsequent placing of the show opposite Corrination Street on ITV. As a result, ratings dropped and so was the show.Awesomeforthemasses said:*puts on nerd hat* It's time for unnecessary trivia!XJ-0461 said:If Doctor Who was cancelled, there'd be immense fan outrage and facebook petitions galore to bring it back.
Doctor Who was canceled... sort of... in 1989, but revived with Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor in 2005! *takes off nerd hat*
Anyway, Clank up there said it all.
For me the first serial cartoon where they killed extras (and main characters) in combat was Robotech. But I loved Exo-Squad. The creators tried to make an American version of those Japanese space war anime of the 70s and 80s, and succeeded beyond all expectations. It had all the drama, character development and detailed setting of those anime, but within a Western cultural framework. They released the first 13 episodes on DVD and it was just a brilliant plot arc. Every time you think the characters (heroes or villains) have done something stupid, you realize they're already one step ahead of you. Definitely cancelled too soon.tehroc said:It was an American cartoon named Exo-Squad. Similar to Gundam, in mood and setting. The one thing that made this show excellent was the character development, you could really identify with the characters through their trials and tribulations which was something unheard of really in American cartoons of the 80s-90s. Also first American serial cartoon where I noticed extras actually killed in combat (unlike constant jettisons seen in other cartoons).
True. After the Third season they went in a totally new direction and felt like they had run out of ideas.itf cho said:Also at least Firely didn't have time to 'jump the shark'. I know I'll get hate for this, but I lost track of Farscape for a while, and tried to come back into it on the final season. Everything was turned upside down, and it seemed a parody of it's earlier self.DeAvatar said:Firefly was a good series, though it should of gone for at LEAST as long as Farscape. At least Firefly didn't get the crappy "movie" at the end.

Also, You forgot to mention Paul McGann's brief tenure as the Doctor in the 1996 movie, which was also a backdoor pilot for a new series (a revival didn't happen at the time).
