What would happen if some ancient text was recovered and it proved, with unarguable proof, that Jesus and his whole life was just one big scandal, and that it was all a elaborate hoax set up to earn money and publicity. What would happen to the world or, would anything happen?
Everything would be exactly the same.

I'm sure that many believers would deny it with rational and many more irrational arguments. The Catholic church might also decide to change what is canon and spark a war between followers of the old and new Catholic church.

I kind of like the idea of an entire religion based around a time traveling magician.

I don't think anything would happen. Some people would be upset, but in the end those who have a strong faith would find someway to justify it.

Some people have the idea that their religion is irrefutably true so engraved in their skulls that little things like EVIDENCE and LOGIC won't shake it.
How is an ancient text evidence and logic, when it could have been forged as easily as the words I put down here?
The bible could've been a collection of bedtime stories for all we know. Frodo could become the new Jesus if someone digs up a tatty old copy of Lord of the rings in a few hundred years.

But yeh like others have said, any proof that Christianity is wrong would be discredited and destroyed.
You know, I DID mention in my post that the Bible could have been the exact same thing.

Well I take this plausibility as incalculable because I hold Jesus to be a self-evident truth.
Go ahead and call me 'deluded', I call it 'devoted'.
Its not like anyone can reasonably deny Jesus' existence. Although now that I say that fifty million links are gonna fly at me... probably.
I say good point. It's really impossible to give PROOF about anything. There's good points and theories that go both ways, that's why I believe they call it faith. You believe it or you don't. It just happens that I and many other people do.

People who just believe in christianity (you know what I'm talking about) will be fascinated, strong believers will be devastated, and evangelicals will either a) sum(every religious terrorist group) * over 9000 or b) kill themselves. As for the other religions, they wouldn't care. Atheist, however, will get big Lulz (especially Christopher Hitchens).

Wouldn't effect my life, i've known all this for years now, as have many other people.

Perhaps I read your tone wrong? I apologize?

Sorry, I wanted to use more question marks?

Yeh sorry I know it's easy to misunderstand what somebody is trying to say when you can't hear their tone of voice. I wasn't even trying to argue with anybody, just saw your post and decided to add to it.!?:'"'

Random punctuation for the win!

Well Jesus was a real man. Whether or not he was the son of God is highly debatable.

That brings me to another point. Do you not think religion is just an elaborate scam to generate semi-intelligent discussion among the masses in order to distract them from the rest of the bullshit going on?

The way I see it, there are three explanations. They where all crazy (what is the point of dying for it, which all of them did), that it was a hoax that went horribly wrong and ended up with everyone getting killed, or It was true. Feel free to contradicte me.

It would probably just give Jews a reason to sneak up on us and yell, "Nana-Nana-Boo-boo!" before taking their money and running off in the Right-mobile.

Nothing would happened, except the atheists would never let me and my fellow Christians live that one down.

i wonder how an ancient text could in some way be undeniable proof?

unless if it had a talking disembodied head of Christ himself which told us the story himself, i don't see how anything could be considered 'undeniable proof'.

Even if someone could prove Jesus didn't exist all the Cristians wouldn't belive it, kinda like evolution.

It's been proven that Jesus existed though. I'm not 100% sure on the details as it's been a while, but I'm fairly confident that Roman records of the period exist and Jesus of Nazareth was crucified around 30 A.D. Whether he's truly the Son of God is up for debate.

True. This was a lesson our history teacher taught us. He also went on to explain how easy it was to ignore all the other 'messiahs' that originated around that time.
