What is a game series you wish would just die already?

CoD. The name needs to die. MW2 was going to be called Modern Warfare 2, but then they decided they needed to slap CoD on the title. Personally, I want the Modern Warfare series to be a separate series, and keep the WWII stuff in the CoD series.

And then, when we put all the WWII stuff in CoD, we get rid of it, so we can finally stop playing copypasta WWII shooters.
Modern warfare is moving away from generic WW2 stuff no matter what you call it.

Honestly, complaining about the name? The most petty quip I have ever heard.

The only reason they kept the name was so people would buy it from association.

Do you really think Halo Wars, Silent Hill: Homecoming, or most licensed games would have as many sales as they do if they didn't have the name behind them?

Sonic!

I love Sonic, he's been my best buddy since before I could spell and we've gone on many adventures together, we defeated Robotnik we met some strange people we rescued tiny animals but ever since I came of age it seems like he's become that tragic friend who goes down the wrong path. The one who goes off with the 'bad kids' and starts doing drugs and stealing cars and beating off the general public for enough money to get through the day.

and I've tried to help him, I fought to like the new eponymous one, I gave Unleashed a chance and what do I have to show for it? Bitter dissapointment and a talking Sonic X: Sonic figurine who says very disturbingly sexual things to me everytime I press his foot down.

please Sega, I love Sonic, I can't bear to see him suffer any more. Just take him out back and shoot him.

Haze...i know it was only one game but it killed the company that was supposed to make Time Splitters 4, which is a series that should go on.

This is nothing more than a Hate thread.

The ONLY thing you invite people to do is bash games. Like an all out troll-a-thon. Gonna report it before all the ugly critters get here.
Oh god you are too late!

Get the troll hunting gun.

We may not have made it in time, but we can still try to end this here!

The Sonic series, just because they seem to have run out of good ideas a long time ago, and heavens knows new concepts is not what Sonic needs.

I’ll tell you what game really gets on my tits. The game where we all pick on games we don’t like, regardless of their merits in the eyes of those that do.

On the other hand there are a handful of games I really do like, games like Grow Up and Get a New Hobby. They’re both fantastic games.

All of them.

Most game series need to stop and make room for new original games.
Game series stopping doesn't "make room" for new, original games. The money made from those series fuels the industry and enables companies to make new, original games. If you have a problem with sequels, well, no one is forcing you to buy them - I assure you, there are plenty of original games you can spend your money on instead. Of course, I can't promise they will be any good.

Personally, I don't think any series "should" stop. If people didn't like the games, they would stop selling. Wishing for a series to die doesn't help anyone. If The Legend of Super Mario Fantasy 5000 happened to be awesome, you could be damn sure I'd buy it regardless of how many games in the series there are.
