Chrono Trigger, because it is perfect.

Gameplay: Perfect
Graphics: Perfect for the time, amazing art direction
Music: Perfect
Story: Perfect
Replay: Perfect

After that, it's probably Final Fantasy Tactics, God Hand, Shadow of the Colossus, Secret of Mana, Hitman: Blood Money, LoZ: Link to the Past, Dragon Ball: AA, Link's Awakening and Genji in some order.

I don't know. I would say that the original Devil May Cry does it for me. It was the first time I had ever played a game that was even cooler than any action movie I had seen, coupled with acting and writing about as bad as any action movie I had ever seen. Regardless, I loved it and still love it for its borderline revolutionary gameplay. And in spite of a few laugh-out-loud shitty lines, Dante became my favorite video game character.

Starcraft, because it has been fun for the longest time. I can still pick it up and have a good time. I still play LAN games games with a friend from time too time. Plus, it was one of my first serious games. I have been playing games for as long as I can remember, but they were mostly casual games like Mario and TMNT style games on the SNES. Starcraft came out when I was about 8, and I was hooked because of its complexity compared to most games I had played. So it is sort of the game of my life. Not just for nostalgia, but because the core gameplay itself is still fun, and Battle.net was plenty of mini games built into the Starcraft engine, which makes Starcraft more then just one game. Neverhood is my favorite adventure game. Good to have for nostalgia, but not fun anymore because I solved the puzzles. In both sentimental values and gameplay addictiveness and community upgrades, Starcraft has stood the test of time for ten years.

My favorite is the good ol' SNES game Super Mario World. It was my very first video game, and I loved it so much. *sigh* Times were alot simpler back then, I tell you what.

Its a tie between Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, i've spent about as much time with both growing up and they are both in my mind perfect games

The controls are spot-on
The story/backstory is well written
The graphics were great for their time
The worlds are well made and vast for their time
The gameplay is superb
The soundtrack is amazing for both games

So i simply cannot choose one of them, i love them equally, they compliment each other perfectly, what one of them lacked the other had, so to say.

Mass Effect, because I'm a sci-fi nerd, and like an overprotective mother, I deny any and all flaws it may or may not have.

do you like the halo series. you sound like the kind of guy who will defend it to the grave or tair it to shreds for being a trecharous bastard son of a corporation
(ignore my previos, it should have had this qoute)
Never owned any of the Halo series, most likely never will... enjoyed Halo 2 for a little while when a friend bought it, but that's about it.

Final Fantasy 8, it just is, pacing, characters, settings, it's all I want in a game, now, only if they rendered it in HD graphics

There is no possible way to define my favourite game, so I'll just leave it at Megaman 2 for the NES. Beautiful graphics, intriguing and challenging gameplay, splendid music, the whole package.

I would love to say Master of Magic but since there has never been a stable windows version made of that game I'm going to have to go with Brigadine for PSX. It's the only game I can go back to over and over again just for fun.

Other noteworthy titles would be World of Warcraft (before expansions), Diablo II, Warcraft 3, GTA: Vice City, Postal 2, Wizardry: Crusaders of the Dark Savant, Majesty, and Dungeon Keeper 2.

Right now my game of choice is Fallout 3 though.

I have too many #1 favorite games! But I'll give a shout out to Silent Hill 2. Great characters and a mature plot that was executed awesomely.

And Kingdom Hearts 2 wasn't a bad title. It was better than the first game, featured a TRON level and had a pissed off Mickey Mouse. Although the final boss and all 12 forms was more than a little annoying.
