Anyway, I'm just thinking that nowadays it really comes down to nervous new parents being, well, nervous about how their kid is going to turn out or grow up into, and are going to go a mite overboard in the colour assault of a kid's nursery be it pink or blue. That and it's hard to break out of tradition, even when a lot of people don't even know where tradition started (hell, I'm surprised myself it used to be the opposite.) *shrug* Just one of societies many quirks and foibles.

As for me, I have a +2 Pink Apron of Awesome Cheesecake Making. People giggle when they see the skinny boy put it on, and promptly shaddap when they taste the resulting cake.

Well purple used to be the color of royalty and now it's considered either girly or gay. To a certain extent, it's conditioning, but that doesn't make pink ugly. Like any color, it can be overused or used poorly.

It's social. My little brother's favourite colour was pink until he realised that men aren't supposed to like it, so now he hates pink.

I don't love pink, personally, and I'm a woman (don't hate it either.) But I grew up with two little sisters (no brothers.) So whenever we got individual color-coded presents -- you know how you often buy sets of identical presents in different colors for siblings! -- the youngest got yellow, the middle one got green, and I got blue. And my favorite color is blue. BRAINWASHING!
