What is so great about MLP?

I post this every time theres an MLP thread on the Escapist (I count at least five so far) and I'm going to post it again. I wrote an article of my own free will to investigate the pony phenomenon.

Decent (not great) animation.
Likable characters.
Excellent voice casting.
Being a show based on a commercial product but not having the disgusting feel of shows based on commercial product.
The humor and dialog makes it a Cartoon Cartoon in spirit, being worked on by Dexter, PPG, and Foster's alumni such as Lauren Faust, Rob Renzetti, Amy Keating Rogers, Chris Savino, Meghan McCarthy, and Cindy Morrow, along with Charlotte Fullerton, who is most favorably known for being the producer of the Duel Masters dub.

Because it's awesome to watch and inspires people to go out and make stuff. Remixes, image macros, drawings, [sub]fan fiction[/sub] it's all out there.
It's another "fad", kind of the like the opposite of Twilight and Justin Bieber hate. Give it a few months and they will be beating a dead horse and then get over it.
That's not to say that there is anything wrong with the show or liking it, but it's not going to be this popular forever, just like all "fads".

Probably true, but mainly because in a few months, season one will be over and we'll be in the dry spell before season two starts in November(?). Or December. Late in the year, either way. Expect another popularity explosion then.Legion said:

Yeah, I've not read it either. But I've heard bad things, so best to steer people away from it early.
