What is the best FPS you have ever played?

The best shooters give you a sense of the power of your firearms, so for me, it has to be Black or Killzone 2

COD feels powerful, what with the enemies being put down by a couple of bullets, but the guns themselves don't have the exaggerated recoil and muzzle flash of Black or Killzone 2.
More realistic, yes. More fun? For me, no

Metroid Prime. That series was fantastic.
Goldeneye 007. Great Single player campain and fun(to this day)multiplayer.

portal is my choice, althogh im not sure if you qualify that as an FPS. if not, i have to go with Half-Life 2: Episode 1.

Halo and TimeSplitters 2 were good as well.

Ok i think this qualifies me as a fan boy, but perfect dark for n64. i don't no why but i put so many hours into that game.

COD4 is the best for multiplayer and has a deep campaign but the Halo story is pretty epic to be honest.
Timesplitters never took itself too seriously adn was easily the most fun to play with mates.I would be the first to buy a new addition to the series.
Bioshock's atmosphere and the anxiety you felt eveytime you heard a Big Daddy in the next corridor deserves a mention.
Not sure whether it's considered a shooter but Portal was the most innovative thing to appear in ages.
Had hours of fun on Chronicles of Riddick:escape form butcher bay as well.

I've played too many. I'll shut up now.

One more though. Goldeneye->COD of it's time.
