you question the 'indieness' of M&B, but then you pick plants versus zombies as your favorite indiegame, a game from a company that's recently been bought for, what was it? 600 mil or sobushwhacker2k said:I actually do love M&B (provided I'm not sucking majorly), but this makes me want to ask: "When does a company become NOT indie?" Also I've played a lot of indie games, hard to say which is best... I did like Plants vs. Zombies though.
Well, I would have appreciated an answer rather than a retaliation, but yeah, PvZ is part of a pretty successful group.Aksor said:you question the 'indieness' of M&B, but then you pick plants versus zombies as your favorite indiegame, a game from a company that's recently been bought for, what was it? 600 mil or sobushwhacker2k said:I actually do love M&B (provided I'm not sucking majorly), but this makes me want to ask: "When does a company become NOT indie?" When the game development is funded by a big company it most certainly does NOT count as indie. Indie means more than a studio not being owned by the big companies, they don't depend on them either.Vrach said:Does Portal count? If not, then the first Mafia. Both are pretty much triple A titles coming from independent devs.
Yeah, well aware, but could swear both titles were listed as indie somewhere, to my great surprise. Fair enough then, at a glance, I suppose Panzer General is one of the rare indie games I've played/enjoyed. Really should work on correcting that I supposeveloper said:When the game development is funded by a big company it most certainly does NOT count as indie. As a simple guideline, anything triple_A cannot be indie. Indies don't have the money.
This game is beautiful. Although I've yet to learn how to manage my resources well enough to survive past the initial section.Jozxyqk said:The Void. Not the 'best' Indie game I've ever played, but by far my favourite.
Made by Ice-Lodge Lodge, a team of 8 Russians who've only made 3 games to date. Sure it has some rough edges, but it has a fantastic atmosphere and aesthetic, and the gameplay is unlike anything I've ever experienced.
Very true. The atmosphere in connection with the music is really great. That game was a really worthwhile experience.plugav said:I don't expect many people to share the sentiment, but I really liked The Path by Tale of Tales. Well, it's more a "favourite" than a "best," really. There's not much actual game in there but it's a title that, while at times frustrating, really grabbed me with its atmosphere - thanks in no small part to the soundtrack by Kris Force and Jarboe.
