Okami!

Or if you want a serious answer I guess wind waker and Link's awakening are the two that held my attention the most. Not sure why but most other Zelda games just failed to hold my attention, either though timing of when I played them or them just sticking a little to close to the formula.

The Only Zelda games I've beaten more than twice were the Gameboy Color Oracle of Ages/Seasons games, both of which I beat at least 20 times. That's a conservative guess and may or may not be annually. Beat them 100% when possible (there's a luck heart piece from Maple and the Gasha trees that I sometimes never got, and to this day, I never got the first gen ring, after maybe 20-50 playthroughs, it's ridiculous). Those are actually the most beaten games I have, I've never beat any other game more than 20 times.

I liked Majora's Mask, never beat it, had loads of fun.

I liked Ocarina of Time, never beat it, had loads of fun.

Beat Link to the Past twice, played the crap out of it when I was little but always made a new game before fighting Ganon because I was chicken.

Beat Twilight Princess once and stopped at the last dungeon on the second playthrough, loved the game. Beat it 100%

Beat Wind Waker, stopped, somewhere in the second playthrough (or third, I may have beaten it twice, I can't remember), loved the game.

Got owned first time playing Zelda 2, never played it again. Beat the first dungeon in Zelda 1.

I really can't pick a favourite, although a safe bet would be the ones I played obsessively and beat more than twice. =P

Edit: And Minish cap, beat it twice. Was great fun and I especially liked the special moves, I found a glitch that lets you do the roll stab as soon as you start rolling, although it takes really good timing and I failed it most attempts. Beat it 100%

Link to the Past was my favorite. I've said it in previous threads, and I'll say it again: LttP was the game that set the groundwork that all Zelda games to date have called from.

Several items (Hookshot, , bottles, and hammers) were first introduced in LttP.
The dual-world element got its start from LttP.
*Heart pieces were first used in LttP.
Several musical themes (Fairy's Fountain, Zelda's Lullaby, Kakariko Village, Ganon's Theme) were first heard in LttP.
The Master Sword was first mentioned in LttP. Before you correct me, in Zelda 1 it was the Magical Sword, not Master.

Small things like archery games, throwing pots around for fun and as weapons, and chicken attacks also made their debut in LttP.

Do I think LttP is the only game that ever made any innovations? No, you'd be a fool to say that. I just don't think any game has made as many innovations as LttP did. In my opinion, the biggest thing OoT did was introduce the 3D element, but it wasn't really new as Super Mario 64 showed us what good 3D games were like 2 years before OoT was released.

*Yes, I know Zelda 1 had heart containers, but the idea of breaking them into pieces wasn't until LttP.

Ocarina of Time is my favorite Zelda game of all time. I was one of the lucky few who was around when gaming made the big leap to 3D, and OoT captured my imagination like nothing else. I never wanted to stop playing the game when I first laid my eyes upon it. The world of Hyrule was huge and always had something new to discover; the music stayed in my head for days and never got tiresome; and to this day, nothing in gaming has frightened me as much as the redeads in the Royal Family Grave did. Yes, the graphics and audio are horribly dated, and the gameplay is showing its age, but I still have fun when I feel the urge to go back and play it.

Twilight Princess comes in a close second. Yes, gameplay-wise it's pretty comparable to Ocarina of Time, but that's the kind of game I had been asking for from Nintendo for over 8 years: A Zelda game that truly expanded on what Ocarina of Time established. Hyrule was bigger and more beautiful than ever, combat required some strategy, and the storyline was deeper and more engaging. That, and Twilight Princess contains Midna, one of my newest favorite characters in video gaming. Midna is the perfect example of how great the storytelling is in Twilight Princess, and her childish personality and laughter is forever burned into my brain. Twilight Princess can't completely recapture the same sense of wonder I felt with Ocarina of Time, but I feel like it came as close as possible.

Link to the Past is my third favorite, as it is the very first Zelda game I played. I've gone back and played through it numerous times already, but I still cannot find any flaws in it whatsoever. For me, Link to the Past is the first true Zelda game, as it built upon the original Zelda's gameplay in just about every aspect. Again, Hyrule was huge and filled with an almost limitless amount of nooks and crannies to explore and things to do. I loved it as a kid, and I still love it as an adult. It's incredible how certain games feel like they've never aged a day.

Man, I really get all sentimental and crap whenever I discuss Zelda, don't I?

Majora's Mask. Gotta love the dark streak it had. Everything was so well designed artistically.

Minish Cap is my second favorite. It is underrated and forgotten. I really liked the artwork. It still had the cartoony feel or Windwaker but wasn't as light.

Ocarina of Time is probably my favorite 3D Zelda. It's a classic, make no mistake!

But my favorite Zelda games are actually the Game Boy ones. Especially Links Awakening! For a hand held, it had a fantastic and emotional storyline! To this day, I've never played a game that has had an ending with as much of an emotional punch as this one (except maybe MGS3.)

I also liked the Oracle Games a lot. The whole password link thing was pretty damn cool, and made the games feel even more epic than Zelda already is!

Windwaker wins.

I didn't mind OoT but I feel TP was a more solid instalment, though OoT was groundbreaking.

Personally, my favorite is Majora's Mask (along with being one of my favorite games of all time), but I believe A Link to the Past to be the most well designed. It's a bit hard to compare the 3-D iterations with the 2-D ones, but out of all the ones I played (and I think that the only ones that I haven't are the oracle twins and, technically speaking, that crossbow wii game and the CD-I games), I'd say that it's the most well-designed and that it got the Zelda gameplay formula down perfectly.

Link to the Past, best one ever. All the other's are mostly just graphics upgrades.
Agreed. Love that game. Spent many an hour of my childhood on it.
