Exactly, and (although I can just not click on them and usually don't) I am getting tired of the "I'm not interested in this thing, so why can it be liked by anyone else? I'm so confused!" threads.Strain42 said:It's a big epic fantasy RPG that people have been looking forward to and people liked Morrowind and Oblivion.
I have no interest at all in Skyrim, but I understand why it's so popular.
It doesn't matter if it looks good or not, people will cling to something they have loyalty to.
Clear troll, but let me have a go anyway:Da Orky Man said:Skyrim is set 200 years after Oblivion. I get bored of CoD easily because it's linear, and each game i a carbon copy. Hopefully, Skyrim will play similar to Oblivion, with improvements in many areas. By the look of it, they have done just that, and the open-world design makes it much harder to get bored of.farq1414 said:no but i player fallout and hated it and besides if they want more money then they should aim it at new gamers as well instead of the older onesJe Suis Ubermonkey said:Have you ever played an Elder Scrolls game?
Most people here have, and they want more. Skyrim is more. We're hoping it's better too.
I've played about 40 hours of Reach. And about 300 hours of Oblivion. It's not hard to see why.
Each and every Eldar Scrolls game has had different ways of doing things. Fans of Morrowind loved Oblivion. Hell, I even enjoy Arena, though DOSbox is a nightmare to get working.farq1414 said:so it's a new world to live in, a new story to be a part of and a new skill systemimahobbit4062 said:It is different. That and, well, just look at it! Jesus, it looks incredible. Anyone with even the slightest inclination toward WRPGSs should be at least looking forward to it.
English may not be your first language, but at least make some sort of sense.
yes but don't you want some ting different not just the same game but it looks better and has new stuff
First off, it's in a whole new Region of the Elder Scrolls world, with an entirely new story.
Second, they have completely changed the skill system in this game, it may play the same, but the way you earn experience and level up is completely different.
How the fuck is it the same to older games? Then again, you haven't even played the older games.
this will cause one of two things
1 i will be the same game just with a new coat of paint and a different way to play it
2 older fans will hate the "new" skill system and the game won't be good
Having the same game with a new coat of paint and a new way of playing it is jut what I want. is it really an insult?
And, so far, everyone who played the demo has agreed that the new skill system works awesomely.
Fallout and oblivion are two different games, they have their similarities but they just aren't the same, Also they ARE aiming it towards new gamers by 'simplifying' the stats and suchfarq1414 said:no but i player fallout and hated it and besides if they want more money then they should aim it at new gamers as well instead of the older ones
If you had played Oblivion, you would get it. The Elder Scrolls are the only fantasy genre I was ever interested in and it was a great game! The graphics, the music ... but it did have a few blemishes, like lack of voice talent. There were only a couple of voices in the game.farq1414 said:OK i'm doing this what is with almost everyone liking Skyrim but i just don't get it. Not saying that it will be a bad game but really can some one give me a reason why it will be so good?
Sadly it is the reason. I guess Oblivion was a rather good game (I found it too boring to get in to), so people are insanely over excited for the sequel. Thing is, the game is so far beyond over hyped, that it will never live up to it, and for a month or so after the release, it will all be complaining about how bad it is...farq1414 said:And no the reason "Because it's Skyrim" or "Because it's an Elder Scrolls game"
Pretty much what this guy said. My first encounter with a true RPG was Fallout: New Vegas for PC. I played a bunch of Pokémon games and Final Fantasy before, and they felt a bit... meh, and other RPGs put me off because you are forced on a set of skills from the beginning. Then I got Fallout, as I said... then I got Oblivion, and I loved these games.No_Remainders said:For me, it's how the game seems to play. The design of the whole thing seems to be phenomenal.
For example, I quite like the idea of having an RPG which I don't have to be restricted by a certain skill-set. In Skyrim, you get all the skills, and you level them as you please. That's a major selling-point for me.
I know that it was basically the same in Oblivion, but in Oblivion you had your primary skills and the rest were secondary, which I didn't really like very much.
Also, there will be randomly generated dragons in the game, which is pretty fucking cool as far as that sorta thing goes.
I'm willing to forgive the skill system if the game is good, which I'm sure it will be.farq1414 said:so it's a new world to live in, a new story to be a part of and a new skill system

We need to wait until we play it first before we know these things.TheKasp said:Great world, absolute freedom, make the charakter you want to play.
That's... A very flawed and broken argument.farq1414 said:no but i player fallout and hated it and besides if they want more money then they should aim it at new gamers as well instead of the older onesJe Suis Ubermonkey said:Have you ever played an Elder Scrolls game?

Well that also summed up my thoughts. Thank you.MiracleOfSound said:Basically your post comes down to 'I don't like that kind of game and can't understand why other people do so it's crap'
I'd say this is my reason. As I've gotten older I've realized that not a whole lot of games will hold my interest anymore. I can count on one hand what games I still drool over while playing, and the Elder Scroll games (Namely Oblivion) are on there. Heck, I was thoroughly impressed that I could spend days in game doing interesting things without even touching the story line yet.Woodsey said:"Because its an Elder Scrolls game" is probably the best reason though. You can't really get across what it is in a 30-minute demo.
