For me, it would ether be the False King from Demon's Souls or Gwyn from Dark Souls.

Note: I was a Mage for both games, so I was incredibly weak to any physical damage.

The first real boss of Demon Souls killed me probably ten times my first play through. Took me forever to realize that I should just take my armor off and two hand my weapon. Dodging was a much better strategy than trading blows. I think I was still just trying to get used to the game. Knowing what to do on my second play through I didn't die once to him. In fact I haven't died to a single boss this play through. Granted I'm in Blightown and that'll probably change.

It's probably not the actual hardest but it felt like the hardest at the time: The boss of the space level in Rocket Knight Adventures. I felt a weight lift off of my shoulders when I finally crushed that ************.

That i've personally fought? The end boss of SMT: Strange journey . Even at level 99 that ***** was not a cakewalk . She could kill me in one turn if i was unlucky enough . When i finally beat her i was extatic . But yeah , very old school final boss , loved it .

S&O from Dark Souls come to mind immediately. I was ready to smash my controller fighting them my first time through. I really enjoy that fight now though. But the absolute hardest is probably one of the Sigma's from the old megaman X games. Fuck... Sigma.

Snuggles and Ornery(Executioner Smough & Dragonslayer Ornstein)

Those two are difficult to manage learning how to fight them when they're coming at you together. Granted, I haven't had proper internet since before I got Dark Souls, so I've gone through them even on NG+ entirely by myself, excluding the times I've gone through with Solaire as my NPC ally.

It's ether that or he's talking about the Valley of Defilement and just said Blight Town by accident.

Colossus #3 on Hard Time Attack on Shadow of Colossus. It's not hard too hard to beat, but it's incredibly hard to beat in under 5 minutes.

More traditionally... I dunno. Something from a previous generations.

Probably the Four Kings on New Game Plus in Dark Souls. Those guys were absolutely brutal.

That or Bloody Mary on the Normal difficulty in Skullgirls. Took me an hour to beat her with Peacock. Couldn't beat her at all as Painwheel.

Or...he could actually mean Dark Souls. He's part of the Dark Souls User Group and I was reading his comment earlier. I'm not about to fall into such an easy assumption.

Now, onto something relevant to the topic?

The Seven Force (I think that's the name) in Gunstar Super Heroes. It's basically a boss rush against seven bosses, each with a unique pattern that you can only beat by memorization. Or at least it is on hard; I did it on normal, so I only had to beat five forms, although it was still randomly pulled out of the seven. There have been few things in gaming better than getting the rhythm for that thing down. It makes you feel like you're controlling a DBZ-style character who is able to move faster than a normal human can see.

I would say Seymour's third form/encounter on top of Mt. Gagazet from Final Fantasy X.

Probably the first boss that actually stopped me cold in my tracks because I did not see him coming. Since this is his third time around, his stats are obviously raised and he is faster than any of your characters, so he often attacks first and is able to land two hits in a row. His main strategy consists of hitting one of your characters with his staff, inflicting the debuff called Zombie, causing the opposite effect of healing spells (i.e. instead of healing, you take damage). Since he can attack again, he promptly casts Full Life on your zombified character, causing a 1 Hit KO. He can also cast Flare (strong non-elemental magical attack), and can use Curaga on himself, and if you summon an Aeon, he can kill it with one hit.

What made this boss so hard that you did not see him coming and there was no way that you were prepared to take him on. There is nothing in the immediate area in terms of random encounters that would cause you the need for blocking the Zombie debuff. I literally grind for days just to get my characters stats up and to create some Zombie-proof armor. Even so, I needed to practice my strategy in order to beat him, and that also took a few days.

I wasn't just assuming he meant Demon's Souls, I was more just trying to give the guy credit by saying it could have been a mistake. Though I should have accounted for the fact that he could have just entered in the wrong name too. The levels do have a rather similar theme albeit totally different monsters, people could confuse the two, name wise anyway (it would be pretty hard game wise).

Now, what's something you would accentuate on that's relevant to the topic?

In most recent memory I think one of the hardest bosses I've fought was Barthandalus from Final Fantasy XIII. Also Kai Lang from mass effect 3 on insanity. For some reason I struggled a lot with those two.

Nelo Angelo (3rd time you fight him) in Dante Must Die mode of Devil May Cry.

That was an annoying bugger.

Sarevok from baldurs gate.

Trying to beat him on the hardest difficulty as a mage is FUCKING SOLID (He has ALOT of hp and 90% magic resistance). I can try up to 30 times to beat him and I wouldn't succeed, on my last character (Invoker) he forced me to remove the xp cap, import/export my character to the beginning again and train up levels to be able to beat him the next time round.

Ballos from Cave Story. It doesn't help that every time I enter the battle I have a grand total of 7 health from the preceding level.
