A want for life fulfillment is a desire closely linked to identity. While one may argue that this is a subjective matter that can only mean different things to differing people, I would say that everything is the meaning of life. Whichever reason you have chosen is your objective as it will coincide with your personal identity.
As a darwinist I will say that the only meaning we have that is unaffected by our ability to reflect is to reproduce our genes. But since we are reflective that alone will not brimg the necesary satisfaction to our lives.
The meaning we should give our lives ourselves would be that to achive a peace of mind. not in a budhist term but in the term of the philosofer Kirkegaard whom I cannot give a full lecture in here. (Not that my lacking abileties with the english vocabulary and grammars would allow me to do it in english anywhere) But to put it in one way: You must learn to love yourself, you must never fall into depression (although you will as it is natural) you must not live in memories of the past or fears/hopes of the futuere, but in the present. Only by accept yourself, and acchive satisfaction from being yourself can you achive a good life. This life is the meaning we should reach for.

If the universe was created by chance, it's unreasonable to think that there is a meaning to life. It's a human concept (and an arbitrary one at that) to give something meaning. Unless there's a deity who created it all and truly created us in His/Her/It's/Their image, it's all undefinable.
