I'm a fan of the gunblade personally. The mechanics behind making something like that balanced and usable are pretty much impossible but it's so freaking cool!

from a game, the gravity gun
from real life, a fork and knife with flintlock pistols built into each one

The gears of war guns with motorsaw are more practical and manlier. Just saying :p

I don't think either gun is particularly practical as they would weigh so much you wouldn't be able to aim or swing them unless you were in fact the Cole Train himself.

Gunblades are generally thrown about by sexually ambiguous 14 year old boys with more hair spikes than sense so I'll give you the manliness thing though...

How about the banana gun from "The Movies"?

Or the shotgun-battleaxe that I've heard of?

A few modifications to the original design and both would be at least usable. Rescale the gunblade a bit and make it out of a light metal, titanium perhaps? and you could at least swing it. Same thing with the chainsaw gun if you can make a powerful and light battery and find a way to recharge it in the field. That would actually be really useful because a powerful cutting-tool can be very useful in skilled hands. Both at overcoming obstacles and building them.

The Red Ryder BB LE Edition Gun from Fallout 1
I Was so surprised what it could do
It could Take Super mutants Down with 2-1 Shots
Instantly became my favorite gun in the game
The ones in FO3 can do that with the screwed up Point Lookout perks.

IRL: One of those giant, crazy, Klingon crescent-swords at a knife shop. Or, if that doesn't count because it's from a TV show, a spiked flail at a renaissance fair.

In-game: Probably http://www.wowhead.com/?item=19019#screenshots:id=83258

Game eh?

Well, since tabletop Wh40k counts as a game, I'm proud to say it's the Ork gun that shoots Gretchin (their smaller, cowardly cousins) through warp at their target, where they rematerialize (usually inside their armour) and blow up their kamikaze-charge.

In other words, it's a gun that shoots a live underling, armed with a bomb-vest, through a demon infested realm often mistaken for hell, for them to blow themselves up inside the enemy protections.
for exotic thats a tie with the harlequin's kiss, its a hollow metal tube filled with coiled cheesewire. the tube is punched into the enemy's torso and the wire...'deploys'

instant ork soup.
I personally quite like chaos, the plaugereaper, it fires diseases at you.
